Smartex owns and operates the world s largest network of membership-based professional associations concerned with smart cards, tags and biometrics, with members in the UK, South Africa, Asia Pacific and Central Eastern Europe. The UK Smartex Forums, which meet regularly for full-day meetings in London, are sector-specific, and major on transport, higher education, NFC mobile, financial and government applications. Smartex also provides independent consultancy and implementation support for smart card schemes in the local government and higher education sectors. Richard is a chartered accountant, with a background in the City and in senior management positions within the IT industry. He is a well-known and controversial speaker on the smart card conference circuit, and author of a number of published works and articles in this area. Juergen Spaenkuch, Infineon Technologies Juergen is Vice President and General Manager for Platform Security within the Chip Card and Security Division of Infineon Technologies AG. He has a background of Business Oriented Computer Science. Juergen has been in the Semiconductor Industry for 15 years. Before joining the Chip Card and Security Division, Juergen held various positions within the Automotive Division and the Communication Division of Infineon Technologies. 1
Alex Green, IMS Research Alex Green is the senior research director at IMS and has responsibility over a number of the company s research groups. These encompass the Connectivity group, Financial and ID Technologies group, Broadband & Networking group, and Mobile Radio group. Alex is one of IMS Research's most experienced analysts having joined the company 16 years ago. Prior to becoming Senior Director, Alex spent five years as research director of the Mobile Technology group and two years as research director of the Access, Connectivity, & Storage group. During his time at IMS Research he has worked on a wide range of report topics, including: smart cards, NFC, government ID credentials, cellular handsets, broadband access, Bluetooth technology, cellular infrastructure, semiconductors used in wireless equipment, residential gateways, DECT, WiMAX, and professional mobile radio. Alex holds a BEng (Honours) in electrical and electronic engineering from Loughborough University, England and is based in the company s headquarters in Wellingborough, UK. Formerly co-creadora MET at IE Business School. She was the Enterprise Segment Marketing Manager at Research In Motion, and has been the Business Development Manager at Austrian Trade Commission. She was educated at La Salle - Campus Madrid / New York, the Universität Bremen and the Deutsche Schule Madrid Almudena. 2
John Conlon- Barclaycard John joined Barclaycard in 2009 to work across range of new Payment Innovations. He has been involved in delivering varying Mobile initiatives such as the UK launch of Mobile Contactless with Orange & Barclaycard s Mobile Internet services. John is part of the Digital Payments team working on a range of new Digital Consumer Payments propositions. Prior to this, John worked for Virgin for 9 years across range of Digital & Content roles Dr. Joerg Schmidt, Infineon Technologies Since 2011 Joerg is responsible for the business development activities in the area of NFC. In this function he is in charge of a broad NFC portfolio covering secure and performing NFC solutions like SWP SIM and Active MicroSD as well as NFC Forum compliant tag solutions. Beginning of 2008 Joerg started as Business Development Manager at Infineon Technologies, where he was in charge of Object-ID/RFID projects on a global basis. From 2004 to 2007 Joerg worked as Business Development Manager and Business Development Director at Schreiner LogiData (specialized on RFID label manufacturing and system integration) responsible for national and international RFID Projects. Joerg has contributed and supported diverse RFID standardization activities, published various articles regarding RFID and held numerous speeches on NFC applications and developments. Petra Hofmeister, Infineon Technologies Beginning of 2011 Petra Hofmeister started her NFC career as Business Development Manager at Infineon Technologies. She is in charge of all business development activities in APAC and EMEA in the area of NFC for the business line Platform Security. In this function she is responsible for a broad NFC portfolio including embedded secure elements. Chris Shire, Infineon Technologies Chris Shire Business Development Manager UK has a background in security and semiconductor hardware. He joined Infineon (then Siemens) in 1998 in the Chipcard & Security business line, with many years experience in the industry. His current focus of activity is on projects in the government and finance sectors. He is active on several advisory committees helping to set standards for the UK, and support new security solutions. Chris is an active member of the IET, and the UK Smart Card Club and has been a guest lecturer for several years on the RHUL Msc course on Smart Card Security. He has written several articles on security technology and contributed to textbooks on the subject. 4
Nick Norman- Consult Hyperion Nick is the Head of Sales at Consult Hyperion. He has over 10 years experience in the Mobile Payment industry, Whilst at Consult Hyperion, he has helped many leading Financial Institutions, MNOs, Transit Operating Companies, Payment Schemes and their suppliers to formulate their strategies towards both SMS and NFC-enabled payment and ticketing services.
