UNIVERSAL BROADBAND ACCESS Role of Fixed Wireless and Wi-Fi services for Bridging the Digital Divide Roy Wittert Regional Sales Director Aust, NZ and Pacific Islands July 2017
Cambium Mission Eliminating the digital divide Economic opportunities for developing communities Unprecedented affordable quality connectivity for all Connecting the Unconnected: People, Places, and Things 2
USO and Fixed Wireless There is a STRONG parallel between Bridging the Digital Divide today and the intended aim of the USO. Fixed Wireless has strong role to play delivery of high speed broadband services: Enables converged services - proven for Voice and Video Fixed Wireless is ideal for Connecting the Unconnected. It can reach places copper and fibre cannot. Cost Effective Licensed Spectrum Radio Spectrum required to achieve this should be made available via thoughtful regulation. 3GHz band is ideal for this purpose. Don t get caught in the 5G tidal wave of Fake Information Voice calls over Wi-Fi make the combination of Fixed Wireless and Wi-Fi even more relevant. 3

Massive MU MIMO meeting the growing demand for Broadband. Truly Massive, going beyond standards of LTE 14 x 14 Massive MU-MIMO Beamforming sector array antenna system Integration with radio eliminates points of failure Dramatically lowers product cost Reduces installation costs and installation time Enables operation in high-noise environments, in narrower channels, to a higher density of customers 10
MU-MIMO Operation ---- this is 5G!!! 1. The access point identifies which subscribers are connected 2. Sounding collected from each SM 3. The antenna array forms a narrow beam covering the subscriber of interest and uses it to transmit and/or receive data 4. This process can occur simultaneously for multiple SMs 11 11
