Where to find topics on Digitizing European Industry in Horizon 2020? Example of (fictious) SME Sensor AG : Optical sensors for production Where do I find sensors in the Horizon 2020 Work Programme? ICT photonics technology aspect of sensor sensors data: Big Data, IoT NMBP in-line measurememnts of a production line? Health biocompatible sensors? Climate sensors for water quality and quantity 2 Image sources: www.automationworld.com

Digitizing European Industry: Where to Find Topics? Three categories: 1 Contribute to Technology 2 Integrating Technologies 3 Harnessing the European Ecosystem But there are grey overlapping zones 3

Digitising Europ. Industry: Topic Preview Structured in 3 Categories 1 Contribute to Technology 2 Integrating Technologies 3 Harnessing the European Ecosystem Title of Topic with Topic Identifier Area of Work programme it originates Contact Person at Euresearch End of Document: Link to all Areas of Work Programme 4

Important to Know (I) Technology Readiness Level (TRL) 3/4-7 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 (big) collaborative projects, approx 10 partners Industry/SME participation wanted Newcomers wanted! 5

Important to Know (II) Impact: European solutions for European Problems (1/3 Evaluation points) Aspects to be considered: standardisation, safety, interoperability, European solutions Proximity to market reduce time to market business model relevant metrics and indicators, with baseline values How to find partners? Partnering events, Info days, area-specific partnering platforms, Euresearch Horizon 2020 is not fast money, not lean money, and its positive effect will be beyond the duration of the project. 6

Contribute to the Technologies 7

What is it about? Development of technology building blocks Push the technology beyond the state of the art 8

ICT NMBP 5G Network opto-electrical Human-Robot Robotics Wearables, cyberphysical systems Electronic smart systems Photonics Advanced materials Cybersecurity 9

Big Data & disease threat in-silico medicine testing Health Personalised Diagnostics 10

EXAMPLE Big Data technologies and Extreme-scale Analytics Leadership in European software, high performance and cloud computing ICT-12-2018-2020 EUR 3-6 Mio Task: Seek new big data methods addressing industrial or societal challenges Impact: Big Data Software architecture & tools to increase software quality and productivity Speed of data throughput Update of extreme scale analytics and prediction 11

EXAMPLE Effective Industrial Human-Robot Collaboration DT-FOF-02-2018 TRL 4-6 EUR 6-8 Mio Challenge: extend the current state of the art of individual HRC to work environments where robots and workers function as members of the same team throughout the factory. HOW? novel human-centred designed smart mechatronic systems Implementation of novel artificial intelligence technologies capable of massive information processing [ ] EXPECTED IMPACT? Demonstrating the potential to bring back production to Europe 15% increase in Job Quality Index through work environment and safety improvement [ ] 12

Integrating the Technologies 13

What is it about? Usage (use cases) of digital technologies in different areas and/or integration of various digital technologies Keep in mind the value chain (preceeding and following steps) 14
