July 18, 2018 Parliament monsoon session to begin on 18 July The much anticipated monsoon session of Parliament begins on July 18, 2018. Over the next 18 sessions, it is expected to take up a total of 68 pending bills. Of these, 25 bills are listed for consideration and passage, and three for withdrawal during the session. At least, 18 new bills are listed for introduction, consideration, and passage. Important Bills and Ordinances to be considered in this Monsoon Session: Fugitive Economic Offenders bill, 2018: To prevent economic offenders from fleeing the country. The Criminal Law (Amendment) Ordinance, 2018: To increase the punishment of those, including minors, convicted in rape cases. The Commercial Courts, Commercial Division and Commercial Appellate Division of High Courts (Amendment) Ordinance, 2018: To enable courts to create a separate division to handle cases related to construction contracts and contracts for the provision of goods and services. The Homoeopathy Central Council (Amendment) Ordinance, 2018: To regulate homeopathic education and practice. Finmin approves Rs 11,336 cr capital infusion in 5 PSU Banks The Finance Ministry on 17 th July approved infusion of Rs 11,336 crore in five state-owned lenders including PNB, Corporation Bank and Andhra Bank to help them meet regulatory capital requirement, sources said. This is the first ever capital infusion in the current fiscal and the remaining amount of Rs 53,664 crore would be disbursed during the course of the year. As per the plan, the sources said, Punjab National Bank (PNB), hit by Nirav Modi scam, will get the highest amount of Rs 2,816 crore, while Allahabad Bank to get Rs 1,790 crore. Besides, Andhra Bank to get Rs 2,019 crore, Indian Overseas Bank - Rs 2,157 crore and Corporation Bank - Rs 2,555 crore. PNB collects Rs 151.66 crore as below minimum balance penalty in FY18 The Punjab National Bank (PNB) has collected Rs 151.66 crore as penalty from its customers during the last financial year for not keeping minimum balance in 1.23 crore savings accounts, reveals an RTI query. www.talentsprint.com 3
Jio tops 4G download speed; Idea in upload rate for May 2018 Reliance Jio has topped the chart of fastest 4G telecom operators with an average peak download speed of 22.3 mbps on its network while Idea Cellular registered highest upload speed in May, according to a Trai report. Jio's national average of 4G download speed was more than double compared to its closest rival Bharti Airtel, which recorded download speed of 9.7 mbps, higher than 9.3 mbps it registered in April, on similar parameters, according to the data published by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) on MySpeed Portal. Astronomers discover 12 Moons around Jupiter Astronomers who were searching for a planet beyond Pluto discovered 12 previously undetected moons orbiting around Jupiter. Sajan wins gold as India bag four medals on Day 1 of Junior Asian Wrestling Championships India's Greco Roman wrestler Sajan gave his blood and sweat before emerging champion in the 77kg category as the hosts claimed four medals, including two silver and a bronze, on the opening day of the Junior Asian Championships in New Delhi.
