If you have an older firmware in the digital back, you will need to update using a CF card with only the relevant unit firmware on the card, one unit at a time.

Feature Update #2 Highlights Improved HoneyBee Autofocus Platform on the XF Camera System Autofocus algorithms have been improved, especially under low light and low contrast conditions. New Tripod/Handheld detection is working under the hood on the XF. This is a detection of the usage pattern that helps HAP-1 to be more decisive for the shooting situation. There are no user inputs to adjust this setting. Using the several sensors within the XF Camera System the Tripod/Handheld detection is applied automatically. Autofocus Assist light has been improved. New XF Camera System Tools Three (3) new tools are now available on the XF Top Screen from the slide menu. The Top Screen Tools now includes a total of 6 Tools, the Hyperfocal, Seismograph and BullsEye Tool were previously available with Feature Update #1. As an additional new feature these tools can slide in an endless loop, and the user can control which tools are available within the Top Screen Menu and which are not. This can easily be setup in the XF Menu > UI Setup > Tools Enabled New Focus Stack Tool o Extremely easy to use and set on the XF Top Screen, automatically capturing a defined number of captures, where lens focus is automatically adjusted between each frame. o Select far point of focus, near point of focus, and number of captures using the dials (or by moving the lens in Manual Focus and saving after it s switched back to Auto Focus). o Press the Rear User Button on the XF Camera Body and the system will automatically begin the sequence while shifting focus between each capture. o Images get a proprietary metadata tag written into the file so that they can later be grouped intelligently using new and smart features in Capture One Pro 9.1 o Furthermore all Phase One registered hardware customers can receive a license to Helicon Focus software, free for 1 year the best focus stacking software in the industry. New Time-lapse Tool o New tool to program a time-lapse sequences with an intelligent intervalometer that accounts for all timing of the XF Camera System. o Infinite number of captures o Up to 60 seconds between captures o Minimum of 0,5 seconds between captures (limited by capture rate of the IQ back)

o o o Self Timer Delay up to 60 seconds prior to the start of sequence Using the XF Camera dials to set the total number of captures, the delay between captures and the delay before the start. Use the Rear User Button to start the sequence. Images get a proprietary metadata tag written into the file so that they can later be grouped intelligently using new and smart features in Capture One Pro 9.1 New HDR Sequence Tool o A variation of the existing Exposure Bracketing mode, now as an independent tool o Exposure variation is based on Shutter Speed o Using the XF dials set the number of captures, the exposure compensation value, and whether or not you want vibration detection on or off. o Press the Rear User Button, to start the HDR sequence. o Images get a proprietary metadata tag written into the file so that they can later be grouped intelligently using new and smart features in Capture One Pro 9.1 o Images can be organized, edited and processed in Capture One before further editing is made in third party software such as Aurora HDR or EasyHDR. New Self Timer Delay A new Self Timer Delay is added as a Drive Mode. This makes it possible to do delayed capture anywhere from 0.5 sec to 60 sec. New OneTouch UI to enhance the XF Camera System user experience New Main Menu organization with improved menu grouping,to improve workflow. Major OneTouch UI graphical improvement flat and modern design to align with the XF Top Screen Display XF Camera Controls are now available from XF Menu Home Screen, replacing White Balance selection (if attached to an XF) o Improved Camera Controls, built to reflect the XF Top Screen display, are now available on the Rear Touch Screen o New AF button (works like the half press on the shutter) o Focus indicator on the screen while holding down the AF button o White Balance is now directly available from Camera Controls Improved consistency of the Contextual Menu. o All tools are now displayed in 3 rows. o Tools not available on the specific IQ Model are empty. o Tools that are not available in the current screen context are grayed out. o Quicker menu access with predictable operation

Capture One Pro 9.1 Images captured when using the new Time-lapse, HDR Sequence or Focus Stack Tools of the XF Camera System will automatically receive a metadata tag within the RAW files. Capture One 9.1 can use these metadata tags in a number of ways, accelerating workflow and organisation within the application. As an additional indicator, images captured with an XF Camera System Sequence Tool will show a small icon (three stacked triangles) in the lower left corner of the thumbnail, indicating it is part of a sequence of images. Tags: For supported files, tags can be seen in the vendor specific area of the metadata tab and consist of the following properties: Type: (e.g HDR Sequence, Focus Stack, Time-lapse) ID: Unique identifier made up of serial and unique counter Count: Shown as position and total (e.g. 1/3). These are shown in two strings of the metadata: Sequence ID and Sequence Info Working with Sequences: The application has a number of tools to help you organize sequences into your workflow. Filters: any collection can be filtered, either by Sequence ID, Count, Position or Type. Too see and add the additional filters click the ( ) action menu in the filters tool and then show/hide filters to open the filter menu. Naming Tokens: images can be named automatically using the token feature (during, Import, Capture, Batch Rename or Output) for any property of the Sequence. Dynamic location tokens: folders can be made and named on Import or Export based on the file s sequence properties. e.g shoot: 10 HDR sequences and then import with the Sequence ID Dynamic location token for Sequence ID to have Capture One make an import subfolder for each sequence. Select By Same > Sequence ID: Right click on a variant > Select By Same allows you to choose other images with a similar property. Capture One 9.1 introduces three options: Color tag, Rating and Sequence ID. If you have a lot of images from an import and need to find all the associated images of a particular capture, then this allows quick selection of all the images irrespective of sort order. Create Albums From > Sequence ID: Right click on a variant > Create Albums From allows you to turn a selection into virtual collection (album). Capture One 9.1 introduces three options: Color tag, Rating and Sequence ID. You can use this feature in conjunction with the above Select By Same > Sequence ID to make an

album from a selection, or just select the entire import and then Create Albums From > Sequence ID this will make an album for each sequence in the selection, allowing quick partitioning of sequences. Capture One 9.1 is available here: http://www.phaseone.com/download Helicon Focus by Helicon Soft Ltd. With dedicated Focus Stacking software you can produce images that could not be achieved with a normal lens, even with a classic tilt-shift lens. The XF Camera System Focus Stack Tool makes it easy to capture a sequence of images at different focus distances, and Helicon Focus software will quickly and intelligently combine the resulting processed images into a single, dynamic image, with incredible focus depth and detail. Phase One is pleased to provide a free Helicon Focus software License Key, courtesy of Helicon Soft Ltd, to all photographers who register their Phase One hardware via My Pages Login on Phaseone.com.
