EIP-AGRI Workshop: 'Opportunities for Agriculture and Forestry in the Circular Economy 28-29 October 2015, Naantali, Finland Some 80 participants from 24 MS (+ Norway) Farmers/foresters, advisors, agri-food and bio-based industries, public authorities, NGOs, researchers Overall objective of the event was to bring relevant partners together and to discuss the role of agriculture and forestry in the circular economy, to identify challenges and opportunities and to define concrete actions 6 case studies (well established or just in their start-up phase). EIP-AGRI Workshop: 'Opportunities for Agriculture and Forestry in the Circular Economy Some key messages: Bio-economy, 'green engine' of the circular-economy Common vision shared by all actors, needs to be tailored to the local/regional context (opportunities/resources) Leadership and coordination are key to deliver Requires initial investment and support to develop new ideas, markets and systems Farmers and foresters central in the process Clarification / harmonisation of standards is needed Key role of cooperation & networking for boosting CE

The role of NRNs Rural Development Programmes

Tasks of NRNs in the Rural Development Regulation Art 54(3) of RDR 1305/2013 sets out as a strategic task for NRNs to envisage networking for advisors and innovation support services and the search of partners The action plan of NRN should cover at least the search of partners for the cooperation measure (Art.35) provide networking for advisors and innovation support services. Article 54(2)(d) and Article 54(3)(b)(iii) and (iv) No obligation for the MS to create a specialised innovation network or Support Unit, the role can be assumed by the NRN NSUs should foresee capacity to work with all innovation actors and networks

Main objectives of the workshop Overview about how the implementation of EIP-AGRI is organised at national / regional level, what are the roles of EIP-AGRI support units (mapping) Exchange ideas and first experiences about EIP-AGRI implementation at national / regional level and how activities related to OGs are integrated in the Action Plan Discuss possibilities to improve information exchange / networking between EIP-AGRI support units and EIP-AGRI Service Point Present and collect needs to design the new information exchange tool (collaborative area on EIP-AGRI website) Discuss other innovative cooperation actions under measure 16

Some examples supporting and networking of OGs PT Initiative center, web platform for OGs, translation and dissemination of FG results, Info events, brokerage AT NSU activities: acting as innovation broker, awareness raising on EIP (roadshow) IT national level NRN activities: 2 specific actions for innovation and EIP networking 1: networking activities on administrative issues related to OGs; 2: brokerage (partner search), exchange of experiences on good practices FI NSU: supporting OGs in all stages based on their needs, Service Package NRN Action Plan: own section for promoting innovation, Innovation working group GRE create awareness, partner search, networking actions for consultants and innovation support services, sub-network for innovation, translation of EIP-AGRI brochures FR Survey launched "What are your needs for innovation" in relation of OGs, networking for OGs and ISS, organising seminar in March 2016 to share knowledge on EIP CZ - supporting brokers (15 selected), regular seminar for brokers, translating several EIP brochures, informing potential OG actors also via website
