1. Introduction Reference Standard RS 2x20 Reference Standard RS 2320 The Reference Standard RS 2x20 is a precision single-phase (RS 2120) or three-phase (RS 2320) reference meter for electrical power and energy measurement up to 120 A. Measurement based on precision A/D conversion and DSP technology enables accurate high-speed real time evaluation of all main and informative quantities. Beyond measurement of power, voltage, current and phase the device indicates voltage sequence and registers active, reactive and apparent energy. Device measures and graphically displays distortion and wave-form of measured signals. RS2x20-UG32c-EN 3

4. Remote Interface 4.1 Connection to PC Device can be connected to computer via communication interface USB or RS-232. Reference Standard RS 2x20 Driver required for connection of RS 2x20 to PC via USB communication interface is FTDI Virtual COM port (VCP) driver (Not Microsoft WHQL certified) Newest version of required driver is available from FTDI website: http://www.ftdichip.com/drivers/vcp.htm Maybe not actual but tested version of driver is available in Applied Precision s website from link: http:///download/driver/ftdi-vcp.zip After unpacking the zip file and successful installation of the driver new virtual COM port will appear in operating system. For communication with the device the correct COM port have to be chosen in PC in communication software. 4.2 Remote Communication Device control, results readout and measured values collection remotely is performed using device commands compatible with SCPI standard (Standard Commands for Programmable Instruments). Main rules of SCPI standard: parentheses { } restrict parameter in the command strain parentheses [ ] restrict optional parameters or parts of commands parentheses < > restrict parameter, which is due to be replaced by the value perpendicular line ( ) separate options, from which exactly one has to be chosen character case in the command is optional (command SYST:VERS? is identical with syst:vers?)
