About Us North Sea Innovation Lab North Sea Innovation Lab (NSIL) is an independent test site for research, pilots and the upscaling of innovations in the field of seaweed cultivation and couse of wind farms. NSIL is located 12 kilometers off the coast of The Hague Scheveningen.

NSIL: Supporting new initiatives What does a new multi-use initiative need: Demonstration: Acceptance from wind farm operators: safety and risk government (permit issuer): compliance with permit rules & stakeholder acceptance Investors/insurance: demonstration of performance and risk mitigation Cost effective solutions: easy access to test area with low cost Data: easy means to acquire data on system performance General help: advise & support with aspects of tests that are not core business
NSIL: Supporting wind farm operators What does a wind farm operator need: Low risk profile: co-use does not increase risk profile of wind farm Dependable co-users: robust and professional cousers Predictability: transparent activities and consequences Compatibility: intended activities do not adversely impact WF-operations
NSIL: Supporting government What does government need: Compliance with permit regulations: intended activity will comply with regulations Dependable co-users: robust and professional co-users Stakeholder acceptance: co-user & stakeholders alignment prior to permit application
NSIL: Supporting multi-use with a clear procedure Clear path forward towards multi-use: co-users know what they need to do for permit and co-use inside wind farm Wind farm operators & government know what to expect from co-user Demonstration on NSIL: Co-users demonstrate professionality, adequate risks managed, predictable performance No incidents: the preparatory step on NSIL will limit incidents with multi-use in wind farms Any remaining incidents will be calculated/transparent Stakeholder acceptance: Avoiding unforeseen incidents and nontransparent behaviour will ensure long term stakeholder acceptance for multi-use in the North Sea
