SALINE NEWCOMERS AND NEIGHBORS BUILDING COMMUNITY, ONE FRIEND AT A TIME LOOK FOR US ON FACEBOOK May 2016 This month we celebrate Moms! If you are a Mom, congratulations! You made it through another year! If you still have your Mom around, congratulations that you get another chance to thank her for her sacrifice and love for you growing up. Even if Moms aren t perfect (and who the heck is??!!), most of us do the best we can with what we know. I found a quote I like from Donna Ball: Motherhood is a choice you make every day, to put someone else s happiness and well-being ahead of your own, to teach the hard lessons, to do the right things even when you re not sure what the right thing is and to forgive yourself, over and over again, for doing everything wrong. So, Happy Mom s Day to you or yours! Please submit to Leslie H who you believe should be our Woman of the Year; someone who has shown dedication and hard work to our group this year. Deadline will be MAY 18TH, so let s honor one of our own! Our End-of-the Year Dinner is at Salt Spring Brewery in Saline! MAY 19th. We will have a set dinner menu to choose from, and the club will be providing appetizers and non-alcoholic drinks. We always have a good turn-out and a lot of fun, so come join us and help support a local eatery! Thank you to all the Chairpersons of our Special Interest Groups and for those who are continuing in their roles! We have a few vacancies, that if the group is to continue next year, we need new chairpeople to volunteer and give back to our club: Angel Network, Bunco, Daytrippers, Dining Out, Evening Gatherers, Play Group, Welcome Coffees, and Worker Bees. Please contact Liz H or myself if you re interested or need more information. Enjoy the flowers and see you soon! Wendy

Page 2 Book Club will be reading Eligible by Curtis Sittenfeld, the updated version of Pride and Prejudice. Hosted by Candy Walcott, on Tuesday, May 17th, at 7:00 pm, at the Community Room of the Bank of Ann Arbor. 801 W. Ellsworth Rd. Please RSVP to Candy at Candela4172@aol.com by Sunday May 14th. LADIES WHO LUNCH - MANI'S OSTERIA On Wednesday, May 11th, we will be enjoying lunch at MANI'S OSTERIA located at 341 East Liberty in downtown Ann Arbor. Discovered that Mani stands for "hands on" or handmade in Italian. Osteria is Italian for a tavern style restaurant that emphasizes hospitality. Their dining out experience is fun and their style sets the tone. Mani's lunch menu specializes in salads, sandwiches, artisanal pizzas from wood burning ovens along with seasonal soups plus exciting 'small plates' to enjoy. Please RSVP to Carolyn by Saturday, May 7th so that they can plan the table accordingly. kierland1@aol.com
