SHIN & KIM : Russia/CIS Practice Group Many Korean companies are increasing the volume of their investment and trade with Russia and other CIS countries, attracted by the purchasing power and growth potential of the region arising from a vast territory filled with natural resources. However, it is also true that many foreign investors find frequent revision or legislation of new laws troublesome. Hence, it is critical for those who have already entered the region or are ready to do so to have access to accurate legal services provided by lawyers who are familiar with the real state of affairs in the region. The Russia/CIS Practice Group at Shin & Kim, based on the understanding and experience of the legal system and market trend in Russia and CIS countries, provides reliable advice in the areas of M&A, real estate and resources development, project financing, capital markets and finance, trade, joint-ventures, establishment and operation of a new corporation. Further, the firm entered in December 2008 into a memorandum of understanding with the Moscow Investment & Export Promotion Agency (MIEPA), affiliated with the Moscow Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and has developed a global cooperation network with prominent law firms in Russia and other CIS countries. Shin & Kim s Russia/CIS Practice Group is comprised of Korean and foreign lawyers and senior advisers, all of whom are experts in their areas. The members of the Practice Group include: Dong-Hwa Baek, a Russian attorney, provided legal advices on investment in Russia and other CIS countries when he worked at the legal team of Russian subsidiary of Samsung Electronics after graduate from Moscow State Law Academy.
