SCIENTIFIC DIALOG ADVANCED MINIMALLY INVASIVE PEDIATRIC SURGERY International workshop and hands-on course on small animal models 30 November - 1 December 2018 Berlin Germany Endorsed by:
Dear colleagues At a time when minimally invasive pediatric surgery has evolved as standard technique, training remains a challenge. Training can be enriched by workshops using animal models similar to clinical conditions. In our experience, small animal models are extremely valuable in this respect. Therefore, we want to invite you to an international workshop and hands-on course for minimally invasive pediatric surgery using small animal models. Initially, basic techniques of access, exposure, suturing and knotting in small cavities will be trained on chicken and living rats. The workshop is focused on specific abdominal, thoracic and even esophageal minimally invasive procedures. We guarantee that participants will be able to perform numerous operations, such as fundoplicatio, nephrectomy or splenectomy themselves. The facility at the Aesculap Academy training center in Berlin is excellent and fulfills all needs for such a workshop. PREFACE A very limited number of participants will be trained by experts in minimally invasive surgery and the ratio between experts and participants will be optimal. There will be room for extensive discussions on different concepts, views and opinions. The participants will then understand that different surgeons use different concepts. The workshop is accredited by the European Pediatric Surgeons Association (EUPSA) and is supported by the German Association of Pediatric Surgeons and its Workgroup Minimally Invasive Pediatric Surgeons. Come and spend some interesting days with us in Berlin. Looking forward to seeing you. Best regards Benno Ure Chairman of Pediatric Surgery, Hannover Medical School
