Outlandish Gatherings is the largest assembly of Outlander fans in North America! (New to Outlander? See Let s Talk Outlander, pg. 7.) Each year we get together to celebrate our devotion to Diana Gabaldon s bestselling Outlander novels and the hit Starz television series that they inspired. 2016 marks our third North American gathering - previous events were held in Boston, Massachusetts and Quebec City, Canada. Our beloved main characters sail from Scotland in 1766 to the Caribbean. After dealing with more than any average human could bear, they get caught in a savage hurricane, find themselves shipwrecked on the coast of Georgia and ultimately end up in colonial Savannah. Let's Talk Outlander! The Outlander series is an eight book sequence of multi-genre novels and shorter works written by award winning author Diana Gabaldon that feature elements of historical fiction, romance, mystery, adventure and science fiction/fantasy. Over 26 million books have been sold since the publication of Outlander, Gabaldon s first novel, in 1990. Book nine is underway and fans are patiently awaiting its release. In 2014 the franchise expanded to include the highly popular and critically acclaimed television drama Outlander on the Starz network. It stars Caitriona Balfe, Sam Heughan and Tobias Menzies, along with a stellar supporting cast. Ron D. Moore, producer/writer of Battlestar Galactica and Star Trek: The Next Generation, is the executive producer. Filming primarily takes place in Scotland. The second season, based on the novel Dragonfly in Amber, airs Saturdays at 9:00 PM EDT on Starz. The success of Outlander has spawned a multitude of fan groups all over the world.
