THE CHARLES WHITE COLLECTION Papers, 1968-1974 1 1/2 linear feet Accession Number 879 L.C. Number The papers of Charles White were placed in the Archives of Labor and Urban Affairs in April of 1978 by Charles White, and were opened for research in April of 1983. Charles White, an officer and member of UAW Local 1112, Lordstown, Ohio, was born in 1936 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He began work with Republic Steel of Warren, Ohio in 1955, and from 1966 to the present he has been employed by General Motors Assembly Division, Lordstown, Ohio. Mr. White served as Insurance and Workmen's Compensation Representative for the Local 1112 Chevrolet Division, as a member of the Board of Directors of Local 1112 (1969-1972), and as the Local's recording secretary. He has been Treasurer, President and Administrative Head of the Lordstown Credit Union. Other union activities include serving as a delegate to the UAW conventions, co-chairing the Community Service and Recreation Committees of Local 1112, and serving as a UAW - CAP representative. The papers of Charles White reflect his work with UAW Local 1112, particularly his service as Insurance Representative from 1968 through 1972. Arrangement is alphabetical by subject.
