SFU Sponsorship Package Bottled http://www.bottledmedia.ca
What is Bottled Media? Bottled Media is a diverse exploration of alienation and its consistent presence in modern society. The project is divided into a series of sub-themes that are illustrated through a chain of small projects -- each project portrays a unique perspective. The sub-projects may be in the form of video documentaries, animations, graphic posters, film and interactive games. The inspiration for Bottled Media stems from the idea of a message-in-a-bottle. More specifically, one might see this concept as a metaphor for desired contact or societal integration. Since the metaphor is most poetic, and best experienced, in a physical form, we will have a physical pool consisting of messages in bottles. These messages will hold a code that links to a corresponding project. Audiences can input such codes into the web-based environment and view the respective project.
Marketing This project will be marketed through several unique approaches. There will be a series of four pre-launch demonstrations conducted at four fountains in the lower mainland. At each demonstration, brochures and fliers will be distributed. Each location will symbolize one of the sub-themes of alienation. The final sub-theme will be conveyed during our final event presentation.
Sub-Themes Geographical This section provides audiences with insight into implicit cross-cultural differences by virtue of origin. This will be accomplished through multicultural explorations pertaining to the physical, emotional, and cognitive facets of humanity. Political We attempt to reach audiences through clever, concise art pieces that deal with current issues. Each piece demonstrates a form of discrimination evident in Canada s political structure. Psychological Exploring only a few elements of psychology, the main task of this section is to demonstrate the implicit alienation in having a mental deficiency. Accomplished through related mediums, perspectives will be established through the devastating effects of OCD, addiction, and other disorders. Social Taking a step directly into societal hierarchy, this section will dissect and euphemize the hypocrisies and idiosyncrasies that have fallen into each social microcosm of our lives, from high school to the world around us. Technological Many facets of technology have stemmed new cultural structure, economy, virtual property, and diversity, while completely reforming social habits, interactions, communication, and education. It is to this world of virtual existence that this section refers to, displaying some of the more obvious downsides to the modern trend of technological dependence.
