Opus Photography Award 2017 powered by Energis GmbH,Saarbrücken 1. Public offer of an Award Opus Cultural Magazine, started in May 2007, is issued every two months and contains a head subject, an unpublished short story, a large service calendar and reports on cultural events from Rhineland-Palatinate, Lorraine, Luxemburg and the Saarland. At the beginning of 2011 Opus Cultural Magazine has launched a Photography Prize powered by Energis Gmbh, Saarbrücken and will be relaunched on a by-annual basis, actually for 2017. 2. Theme There are no requirements on a theme. The choice of motifs is free. The prize aims at the endowment of the fine arts in photography. A thematic relationchip with the complex subject of Energy elixir of the future is desirable. 3. Prizes A first prize of 5000 Euro, a second prize of 1500 Euro and a third prize of 500 Euro will be awarded. The photographs submitted by the prize-winners and the 20 runners-up will be presented in an exhibition as well as documented online and in all likelihood in a catalogue. Prize-winnners oft the Opus Fotography Award are excluded from further participations. 4. 5. Requirements Submissions consist of only one photographic work with maximum five parts (as prints, maximum format:40x40 cm; the longest picture edge must be at least 30 cm long, and no longer than 50 cm). Entries with more than five photographs will not be accepted. Only one entry per photographer is permitted. The photographs themselves must not be more than two years old. The photographs will be judged as for their artistic quality and as one entire piece. 6. Participation The competition procedure is anonymous. The competitor confirms with his/her signature that he or she is the rightful owner of the photographs submitted. Third party rights must not be affected. All submitted photographs must be labeled on the back with the code number personally chosen by the entrant and written on the entry form. The name of the entrant must not appear on the photographs. The entry form must be filled out completely and sent with the photographs and payment or proof of payment to the competition promoter (see Entry fee). Competitors in the Opus Photography Award acknowledge the published rules by their participation. Contributions which are not conform to these rules may be rejected at a preliminary inspection and will than take no further part in the competition. The promotor is not liable either for damage to or loss of the photographs submitted. The photographs will be returned only at the entrant s request and expense. 7. Entry fee The entry fee is 30 Euros, for students 10 Euros (Copy of the students card required) Along with the filled-out form entrants from Germany and other EU countries must send -30 /10 Euros in cash or -attach a receipt for the transfer of the entry fee to the account of Verlag Saarkultur ggmbh Nr. 105006004, banc-code 59190000, SWIFT Code: SABADESS, IBAN: DE 51 5819 0000 0105 0060 04. Ensure that the code number you have chosen is indicated on this form, on the envelope and also on the reverse side of all submitted photographs (max. 5).

Prize-giving The winners and runners-up will be informed immediately following the jury s decision and invited to attend the prize-giving ceremony.
12.Publication rights The promoter reserves the right to exhibit the prize-winning and short-listed photographs, to publish them in a special catalogue, to present them on the promotors homepage and to place them at the disposal of Opus Kulturmagazin and cooperating journals, all without remuneration (only if the publication has a direct link with the prize). In addition, the photographs should be made available for the promotor on a free loan. The promoter reserves as well the right to ask the Prize-winners for a second print of the photographs in case of destruction or the loss of the Photographs or in case of damages; in these cases the promotor has to pay the printing and the freight costs. 12. Property rights Prize-winners and the participants of the short-listed photographs consent to transfer the property rights of the submitted photographs to the promoter, who will expose the photographs in exhibitions open to the public. The Prizewinners and the shortlisted participants will be rewarded by five catalogues without being charged.
