2 Introduction and invitation to sponsors The International Gas Union (IGU) is pleased to announce that the next IGU Research Conference - IGRC2014 - will be held in Copenhagen, Denmark 17-19 September 2014. IGRC is the globally most recognised gas research conference and attracts gas company executives, researchers and others from all over the world. It has been held since 1980, normally once every three years. IGRC2014 in Copenhagen is the 14th in this series of conferences. IGRC2011 in Seoul (www.igrc2011.com) attracted more than 500 participants and IGRC2008 in Paris attracted more than 800 participants. IGRC2014 will act as a technology forerunner for the succeeding IGU World Gas Conference - WGC2015 - that will take place in Paris, June 1-5, 2015. The conference is organised by Danish Gas Technology Centre (DGC) (www.dgc.eu). Natural gas and other energy gases and the gas infrastructure are essential for the transformation of our energy system to a lower carbon future; and natural gas will be a key player also in the long run. It provides base power load and energy stability, security of supply, storage and flexibility. The gas system is the facilitator of a smooth transition to a greener energy future. New technologies are essential to fill this role, and development of new gas technology is already taking place at an impressive speed all around the world. We encourage you to brand your organisation as a proactive friend of new gas technology and intelligent energy through an IGRC2014 sponsorship. See the attractive options in the following pages.
