GRAVIS SUBWOOFER COLLECTION Sonus faber is not new to the arena of subwoofer design and engineering. In fact, the Vicenza based company s first subwoofer project, the Gravis FB100 was launched back in 1986. Ten years later, the Sonus faber Cremona Subwoofer M became a popular solution for home theater enthusiasts and two channel aficionados alike. More recently, in 2014, Sonus faber applied its unique knowledge of speaker design to the highly regarded Sumiko Subwoofers S Series. In 2018 Sonus faber once again graces its product offering with a collection dedicated to the proper reproduction of low frequency: Gravis. For this project, Sonus faber returns to its roots, incorporating cutting-edge technology while maintaining its identity of natural sound, great performance and quality Italian hand-craftmanship, in order to satisfy the growing need for a powered subwoofer of equal caliber to its loudspeaker range. The new Gravis collection is comprised of four models: Gravis I and Gravis II, smaller models ideal for matching with the new Sonus faber Sonetto collection, Gravis V and Gravis VI, more powerful and highend models designed as a perfect complement to the breathtaking Homage Tradition and Reference collections. GRAVIS I & GRAVIS II The goal of this project was to create a versatile product that can be perfectly integrated into every living environment, ideally matched not only with Sonus faber s new Sonetto family, but also with almost every kind of music and video system. Gravis I, a formidable solution for people wanting accurate bass extension for middle sized listening rooms; it s a powerful medium sized subwoofer package representing an ideal compromise between size and performance. It features a down-firing 8 active driver, along with a high current 150W Class AB amplifier allowing it accurate and expressive bass reproduction well beyond its class. Gravis II, a fitting choice for more demanding audio systems, it represents design synergy at the highest level. It features a front firing 10 passive radiator with a down-firing 10 active unit, along with a high current 400W Class AB amp. The combination of a larger cabinet, perfectly tuned to the larger driver compliment and 400 watts of refined power provides excellent bass extension with the speed, impact and nuance required to underpin the most engaging music and theater systems.

For both Gravis I and Gravis II the preamp stage is a highly advanced design specifically developed for this application; it is responsible for the texture, speed, and attack of these two small subwoofer models. Moreover, Gravis I & Gravis II s rear panel features a complete connectivity solution that allows for both perfectly blended musical sub bass and powerful, percussive, home theater bass. A wide sound field reproduction is the result whenever this subwoofer unit is matched with a loudspeaker system. It s sound is rock-solid, fast and has startling depth. The separate volume controls for High Level and line/lfe allow perfect calibration for music and home theater so there is no need to make any adjustments between sessions in dual-use systems. In fact, while the High-Level Connection allows seamless blend of the sub with the main speakers in music reproduction, the LFE input can be used along with it to provide an immersive home theater experience simultaneously. For over three decades, driver design has remained one of the most important factors of Sonus faber s loudspeaker systems. In fact 100% of the company s current product line features drivers that are designed and developed at its laboratories in Vicenza, Italy. From this rich knowledge pool emerges the care and attention required to design and produce relatively small driver units that provide truly low bass and are able to withstand high power and output for long periods of time. Both Sonus faber Gravis I & II use quality stamped steel-frame speaker units: the Gravis I features a 8 Ultra Long Throw down-firing speaker unit and the Gravis II uses a 10 Ultra Long Throw down-firing speaker unit and a 10 aluminum alloy diaphragm passive infra-bass radiator.

GRAVIS V & GRAVIS VI Sonus faber Gravis V and Gravis VI have a clean design; simple lines of the body are enriched by the leather covering. The top is a unique hand-finished wood element that creates the connection with their loudspeaker siblings and is available in the three unmistakable Sonus faber finishes: the elegant Wengè, the iconic Red, and the essential Piano Black. Speaker unit The Gravis V & VI subwoofer speaker unit has a powerful, long stroke 12 design. The core technology is built on an extremely stiff and lightweight Trilaminated sandwich ParaNanoCarbon cone diaphragm that resists flexing even with under strongest signal to produce the tightest and most accurate bass reproduction. A dual voice coil winding (each winding presents 4-ohm impedance) is also implemented to perfectly manage the driver s excursion. Amplifier For the Gravis V & VI subwoofers Sonus faber designed an extremely powerful and highly efficient Class AB amplifier rated at 850W into an 8 ohm load for the Gravis V and 1800W into 4 ohm for the Gravis VI. This huge energy reserve is responsible for a fast response and a wide frequency range. The latter is further linearized thanks to a specially designed DSP (Digital Signal Processor) implemented in the input preamp stage. This also allows numerous adjustments in order to optimize dynamic impact and sonic reproduction depth, satisfying every application need. Subwoofer connection and control Many input options are available at the subwoofer backplate. Both high-level and low-level signals are accepted. The first by means of a Speakon 4 pin connector, managing the two L and R channels. One or two-line level signals can be carried by means of balanced or unbalanced cables, respectively through two 3-pin XLR and RCA plugs. The LFE signal can be fed to the subwoofer through the shared XLR or RCA. If it becomes necessary to avoid cables back to the receiver/preamp/processor, Gravis V and VI integrate a wireless receiver for use with the optional transmitter, allowing complete connectivity without long wiring runs. The Gravis V and VI are fully controllable by means of a dedicated, user-friendly app. The user can choose among 4 presets, or even modify the cutoff frequency and the acoustical output phase for

seamless integration with the main loudspeakers. Delay, parametric filters and limiters are also available for the most accurate sonic performance calibration. Last but not least, to minimize the energy footprint, the Gravis V and VI have a selectable auto--on and auto-off function. RETAIL PRICES The suggested retail prices for Gravis Subwoofers are: Gravis VI: 6.000 Gravis V: 4.500 Gravis II: 1.250 Gravis I: 850 MARKET AVAILABILITY Gravis Subwoofers collection will be available worldwide on July 2018.
