Important part of TUKE is University Science Park TECHNICOM (USP / UVP TECHNICOM) The strategic mission of the USP TECHNICOM is to be internationally recognized centre of research and technology transfer. USP TECHNICOM is gradually developed through the integration of long-term strategies for the advancement Win 2 Win research and innovative cooperation with relevant public and industrial practice. UVP TECHNICOM includes, among other things, several associated specific institutions: Centre VUKONZE (Research Centre for Efficient Integration of Renewable Energy Sources) KC ZATIPS (Competency Centre for Knowledge Technologies Aimed at Innovation of Production Systems in Industries and Services). The Centre create virtual W2W environment for intensive R&D collaboration between three universities and six commercial industrial companies. Development and realization workplace (VRP) of Raw Materials Extracting and Treatment (RMET) 4 departments and 7 detached workplaces or laboratories with industrial partners. VRP is organization unit of the Faculty of Mining, Ecology, Process Control and Geotechnology (FBERG) Basic research Applied research Development Transfer Implementation (Innovation projects) Idea generating Transforming idea into solution Solution implementing Centre of excellent research of RMET selected departments from the Faculties BERG and Metallurgy VRP - Centre for R&D collaboration with the practice on RMET 29 research and industrial partners Initiation and co-founding of the National Technology Platform for Research, Development and Innovation on Raw Materials 41 members Promoting R&D and innovation along the entire Associated partner of the USP TECHNICOM (TUKE) value chain of RM (exploration, extraction, processing, refining, recycling, substitution) International activities (references): On behalf of TUKE the member (associated partner) of the H2020 project EIT RawMaterials (Knowledge and Innovation Community on Raw Materials / 2015 /2021). A member of FP7 project I2Mine (The Intelligent deep Mine of the future, (2011-2015?) addressing the application of innovative technologies for raw materials processing and intelligent logistics for deep mining. Active collaboration in the framework of the ERA-MIN project / Coordination and Support Action (CSA) within the FP7 (in the NMP thematic area / ERA_NET call). Cross-border Co-operation Programme with Hungary: WP leader in the project Virtual reality laboratory for factory of the future (2012-2014). A member of the European Technology Platform for Sustainable Mineral Resources / ETP SMR (from 2008), a member of High-Level Group and member of the ETP-SMR group for the ETP-SMR platform integration into EIP RM (European Innovation Partnership) for the years 2014-2020.

Basic activities of VRP are focused on (with respect to the EIT RawMaterials requirement): research and development and innovation activities,, improvement of educational-training activities development of innovative entrepreneurship. building partnerships in research and development and transfer into practice. Pilot research projects or activities with potential contribution to EIP RMs activities: Metallic magnesium production ( Mg + Al alloy l R&D program ) National R&D programme, Thermic and physical raw material processing - SMART production in RM - National R&D programme, Technology logistics and advanced management system, partly applied in I2Mine, Mathematical modelling, simulation of processes and digitization processes - Digital Factory concept for RM, - National R&D programme, Complex magnesite processing, partly applied in I2Mine, Container for local energy source (biomass combustion) - UNIDO Innovative pilot projects in the framework of partnership among members of WRP - Centre for collaboration with practice in RM : Magnesium - aluminium cluster (magnesium production and processing) Reinstalling (recovery) of selected ore deposits Optimization program for rotary and shaft furnaces Application of new technology concepts for heat aggregates (rotary and microfluidic furnace ). High temperature combustion technology Advanced technological process control systems Waste treatment: Recycle, reuse and recover raw materials. R&D on thermal processes and aggregates for innovative technological and energy utilisation with the aim to develop intelligent Smart processes and aggregates for raw materials heat treatment area: Optimisation of existing types of aggregates: rotary furnace and shaft furnace, Development of new innovative aggregates: integrated thermal aggregate microfluidic furnace high-revolution rotary furnace Three-stage combustion of biomass

CALLs HORIZON 2020 - Work Programme 2016 2017 Climate action, environment, resource efficiency and raw materials, part 12 - RAW MATERIALS The VRPs R&D offers, with respect to collaboration on the part of faculties BERG and Metallurgy and relevant support from USP TECHNICOM, would be in brief presented as: Complex R&D and support for management of raw material life chains including geological prospection, exploitation, economic assessment, processing, distribution, recycling and new materials. Also given attention on unconventional raw and energetic sources as well as renewable sources.... NOTE: VRPs offer to each topic of the call is presented in parenthesis. SC5-13-2016-2017: New solutions for sustainable production of raw materials a) Sustainable selective low impact mining (2016): ( R&D on low impact technological solutions for mining and processing small antimony deposits including production / commercial logistics - prototype solution for demonstration.) SC5-14-2016-2017: Raw materials Innovation actions a) Intelligent mining on land (2016): ( R&D on Intelligent mining and processing in a customers driven system to increase efficiency and profitability, and to minimise environmental impacts of the operations for e.g. construction minerals ). b) Processing of lower grade and/or complex primary and/or secondary raw materials in the most sustainable ways (2017): (R&D on systems optimise raw materials recovery integrating relevant processing and refining technologies for better recovery of minerals from low grade and/or complex ores, industrial or mining wastes at increased efficiency in terms of better yield and process selectivity). c) Sustainable metallurgical processes (2017): (R&D including demonstration of an innovative solution on systems integrating pyro-, hydro-, and/or electro-metallurgical technologies, in order to optimise and enhance the production efficiency ). SPIRE-04-2016: Industrial furnace design addressing energy efficiency in new and existing furnaces: (New type of industrial furnace (design, construction and prototype demonstrations) SPIRE-05-2016: Potential use of carbon dioxide / carbon monoxide and non-conventional fossil natural resources in Europe as feedstock for the process industry: ( Geological prospection, exploitation, economic assessment,..) SPIRE-07-2017: Integrated approach to process optimisation for raw material resources efficiency, excluding recovery technologies of waste streams. ( New approach to logistic and control throughout the all supply chain / including end-of-life recycling /, with potential to improving the utilisation of solids / magnesite raw materials resources and increasing yields).
