Epson R1800 Photo Printer Before Printing Get the proper paper: Use only Epson paper, which is the only brand of paper that will allow the Epson inks to adhere to the paper. Size your images for optimal output: The Resolution should be 180, 240 or 320 dpi. If printing from Photoshop, any of these dpi s are correct; if printing from any Office application or.pdf file, the inserted images should be any of these three resolutions. The physical dimension should equal the journal or publication submission requirements, or the size of the paper, less a - inch border. The Epson R1800 prints very dark. Be prepared to do additional editing to get file to print satisfactorily. (See Imaging Essentials at it.med.harvard.edu/ris for instructions on properly resizing images) 2
Printing with Photoshop: A. Using Photoshop, open your image B. Soft Proof your image: Choose appropriate Proof View according to the paper you plan to print on. Select Proof Setup using the Photoshop Menu Bar: View > Proof Setup > Select a Proof option for either Matte or Glossy paper C. Print Menu Bar: File > Print 3
D. Establish Page Setup: 1. Click Page Setup button in Print Dialog Box In the Page Setup Dialog Box, Format for the Epson Stylus Photo R1800 Select Paper Size Select appropriate Orientation Set Scale percentage to 100% Click OK 4
E. Set options in Photoshop Print Dialog Box: Under preview pane Select Orientation so it matches Orientation in Page Setup Dialog Box in previous step. In center column Printer: Epson Stylus Position: Center Image Scaled Print Size: do not Scale to Fit Media Do Match Print Colors Do not Show Bounding Box In right column Select Color Management from Pull Down Menu Print: select Proof radio button Color Handling: Photoshop Manages Colors Printer Profile For Glossy Paper: SPR100 PrmGlsy PhotoRPM.icc For Matte Paper: SPR100 MtteHvyWt BstPhoto.icc Proof Setup: Choose appropriate setting for paper type. Do not Simulate Paper Color Do Simulate Black Ink Click the Print Button F. Set up System Print Dialog Box: Printer: select Epson Stylus Photo R1800 Presets: choose according to paper choice Copies & Pages: your choice 5
Printing from Microsoft Office applications: Send to the printer as you normally would any document: File > Print Printer: Epson Stylus Photo Presets: choose according to paper choice Copies, Slides: your choice Print What: Slides Output: if it has color use Color, if not, then use Grayscale for B&W Photos or Black & White for Line Art Do Not Check Scale to Fit Paper or Frame Slides Click Print Printing from.pdf documents: Send to the printer as you normally would any document: File > Print Printer: Epson Stylus Photo Presets: choose according to paper choice Copies, Subset: your choice Comments and Forms: Document Page Scaling: None Do Auto-Rotate and Center Click Print 6
