TISC Network MyIPO through TISC Malaysia is a Focal Point and intermediary between WIPO and the Host Institution (HI) TISC Malaysia will establish a partnership among local Universities and Research Institute (RIs) in the direction to strengthening an Innovation and IPs in Malaysia.

Issues and Challenges 1. Ineffective Utilization of Resources (Databases, Patent Literature and Non Patent Literature) Notes: Free Databases (90 Million of Patent Documents Worldwide) 2. Lack of Patent and Innovation Expert (Patent Searching, Patent Drafting, Patent Management) 3. Lack of Awareness among Locals (Intangible Asset, Priority, Exclusive Rights, Protection)

TISC Malaysia Activities Patent Searching Patent Drafting Intellectual Property Updates Technology Licensing e-tisc Forum to exchange of knowledge and updates on emerging issues. Distance Learning (DL-101, DL-301, DL-318). On-site Training Awareness Raising Event

TISC Malaysia Key Project 2016 1. IPR Management Trainee 2. Technology Talk with Industries 3. TISC Maestro ( IP Expert )

Justification: Project 1: IPR Management Trainee Implication: A program to train Host Institution Staff on Managing IP Documentation. Increase knowledge and understanding for Host Institution Staff on IP management and procedure. Implementation: 1 week program Focusing on Patent Formality Examination Pilot project starts on November 2015

Justification: Project 2: Technology Talk with Industries Implication: Placing MyIPO and TISC Malaysia in a network with industries and technology player. Implementation: Linkage of MyIPO-Industries- Host Institution. Encourage Industries to collaborate with TISC Malaysia in order to enhance technology and innovation Forum and Discussion Format. 3 rd quarter 2016

Justification: Project 3: TISC Maestro ( IP Expert ) Implication: Introduce MyIPO IP Expert on specific area of interest. Eligible person with recognized qualification. To assist IP Officer in identifying specific person in specific demand from public or stakeholders. Increase IP Expert reputation. Implementation: Encourage IP Expert to polish their skills. (RPET, SEAD) IP Expert will be selected by TISC Malaysia in 2016. The expert will be among IP Officer at MyIPO.

MyIPO Recent Initiative Amendment of Patent Acts - regarding second medical used claim Amendment of Trade Mark Acts Madrid Protocol IP Market Place platform to commercialized widely of IP National IP Day - to recognize the country's best creators, innovators and organizations. ASEAN Patent Examination Co-operation (ASPEC) - To share search and examination results between the participating offices. Patent Prosecution Highway (PPH) - Accelerating examination of patent application. Technology Innovation Support Centers (TISC MALAYSIA) - Provide easy access and increase the understanding towards IP. MyTKDL Digital library for traditional knowledge.
