My Favorite Trip: Grand Canyon & Las Vegas Article by: Elise Hui, 2 nd Grade My favorite trip was to Grand Canyon and Las Vegas. We took the plane and started towards the Grand Canyon. We rode in a mini bus to Hermit s Rest first. When we got there, everybody couldn t believe it! The Grand Canyon is so huge, and made up of grays, browns, peaches and whites. I had just tripped over a rock and had almost fell! I was relieved to see railings! Phew! We walked around the Canyon some more and took the mini bus again to Maricopa for the sunset. We toured some dunes and warned ourselves to look out for rattlesnakes! Luckily we didn t bump into one. We finally finished the tour and stayed in a cabin. After two days, we headed to Las Vegas. We toured Las Vegas and stayed a few days in a place that seemed like City Center. After the days in Las Vegas, we went back home. It was a great trip!

Book Recommendation By: Rhea Chidambaram, 1 st Grade Thea Stilton and The Treasure Of The Seas I recommend this book because I really like mysteries and I love the sea. This book is a big mystery about Aquamarina, the magical land of the sea. In this story, the music of the sea has stopped and that is causing a crack in the living map of Aquamarina. Thea Stilton, Will and the Thea sisters have to go to Aquamarina and fix the crack before Acquamarina fades away. They discover that the sea violin has been stolen, and the queen cannot play it anymore. This is why the music has stopped. Thea Stilton, Will and the Thea sisters face a lot of adventures and dangers like the infinite abyss, the sea snakes, moving dunes, and pirates to find the cobalt hermit crab who is the thief. They discover that he has taken out all of the strings and spread them in different places. Thea Stilton, Will and the Thea sisters spread out to retrieve all the strings and are able to get them all. The queen puts the violin back together. Cobalt hermit crab apologizes to the queen, and the queen kisses him. This turns cobalt hermit crab back into the prince. The prince was cursed because he looked into the infinite abyss. The abyss turned him into a crab and he lost his memory. He stole the violin because the violin was making him sad. In the end, the prince and the queen got married. The music of the sea was back and the crack was fixed. Thea Stilton, Will and the Thea sisters returned back after solving the mystery. The book was very exciting, and I kept reading it until I finished it.
Book Review By: Antonia Villalba, 3 rd Grade Land of Stories: The Wishing Spell by Chris Colfer I think kids will like this book because it has lots of adventure and humor. The main characters are twelve-year-old twins, Alex and Connor. Their grandmother gives them a magic book of fairytales. When the book starts glowing, the twins fall into the fairytale world. A friendly frog-man tells them about a wishing spell which can help them get back to their world. They compete with an evil queen to find the wishing spell first. There is a lot of suspense and action. The description in the book is excellent. I feel like I am with the characters traveling through all the fairytales. I tell all my friends to read this book.

Movie Review: Monster Trucks By: Nicholas Kilburn, 4 th Grade A while ago I went to see the Monster trucks movie with my friends. The movie was so awesome! In the beginning of the movie people found a lot of holes in the cars made by mysterious creatures. Then the main character (Tripp) discovered an octopus like creature in an old garage. It almost got crushed by a press, but Tripp saved the creature and it was grateful. They became friends and Tripp named it Creech. They had a lot of fun together. The creature turned out to be very intelligent Creech could control a truck, copy people s movements with very high precision and understand emotions. But bad guys were out on the prowl for the unidentified creatures. Will Tripp and his friends be able to save the creatures??? At the end of the movie Tripp and his truck plummeted into the giant hole. What occurred after was amazing! If you are eager to find it out, watch this movie with your family!
