International trade in cultural goods Old scope List of codes January 2018 1

Introduction Trade of cultural goods is defined as exports and imports of products according to the Harmonised Systems (HS)/Combined Nomenclature (CN) as listed below. This list, based on the ESSnet/UNESCO frameworks for cultural statistics contains the products corresponding to seven cultural domains identified by ESSnet-Culture report. The tables below present the list of cultural goods defined according to old scope that served for the aggregation of commodities into 11 meaningful groups and compilation of statistics until 2015. The initial list of cultural goods was revised in 2016, with the aim to harmonise better EU methodological framework with that proposed by UNESCO (see Annex 2 International trade in cultural goods by new scope). The data according to old scope for the period 2002-2015 are available in the section "Data" of Dedicated section for International trade in cultural goods. The list of cultural goods is based on HS2012 but some codes correspond to earlier versions of HS (or CN) in order to keep the data series comparable since 2002.
