C O V E R S T O R Y A new Star on the Era horizon A new star has risen on India's entertainment horizon. For perhaps the first time in the history of the country, and of the entertainment business, two big brands have come together to change the face of Indian entertainment, taking quality entertainment from the metros and the big cities to the smaller towns. In a major development that will set the pace for a new era of growth in the company, Era E-Zone has entered into a strategic tie-up with Star Box Office, an alliance that promises to set the stage for a unique brand of entertainment. A brand that will re-define the entertainment experience and take it to a whole new level. What is on the cards is an extensive rollout of cineplexes and multiplexes, beginning with plans for 30-40 screens in the first phase, across key emerging towns and cities. Eventually, the two giants are planning a presence of 200+ screens over the next four years. Lush ambience, comfortable seats, latest movie releases, quality sound and a wide choice of booking options at par with the best are just the tip of the offerings that are set to emerge from this exciting tie-up. Looking ahead, there's a lot more to come. So just keep watching this space for more! 1

E X P E R I E N C E S P E A K S Speaking from the heart I am sure with Era Landmarks growing in such a remarkable way, all my team members have a challenging and bright future in the coming years. An Interview with Mr. Vikrant Singh, Sr. VP Marketing, Era Landmarks Q A Q A You're one of the first few members to have been associated with Era Landmarks from its inception? So how has your experience been till date? Yes, it's true that I'm among the first few members to have allied with this company since its initial days, and it is really a pleasant thought that it has been almost more than 3 years since I joined. It was both inspirational & challenging for the company to initiate itself into such a market where, in its time, competition and conformity were at its zenith, and still within this short span of time, to achieve a mark within the industry. This was only possible with the foresight and guidance of our honourable chairman, Mr. H.S. Bharana and his clear strategy and long term vision. Our initial foray was in Meerut city and today we have a pan India presence, with over 20 projects, almost in all major potential locations in National Capital Region like Faridabad, Greater Noida, Gurgaon and other cities like Jaipur, Palwal, Sirsa, Agra. The recent expansion in south India, with projects in Bangalore and new targeted cities like Hyderabad, has enhanced our profile further. Personally, I take immense pride in my association with Era Group and our achievements till date. Yet, we have miles to go, and we will. What kind of aspirations do you have for your department for the coming years? Marketing is the soul of the realty business. Marketing professionals represent the face of the company. They are expected to be upfront, be it about handling areas like market knowledge, product knowledge or about skills in customer satisfaction. I have always given importance to aligning individual aspirations with organizational goals. A true leader must take his team along, both in professional and personal concerns. I have always tried to provide such a platform to my team, where they perform and bring results with high level of self motivation. I am sure with Era Landmarks growing in such a remarkable way, all my team members have a challenging and bright future in the coming years. And it's worth mentioning that, within this short span of time, Era Landmarks has aptly catered to all aspects of the realty business, covering the entire gamut of realty formats, including townships, malls, IT Parks, commercial complexes, group housing, etc. on a pan India basis. 6

7 E R A W O R L D E X P E R I E N C E S P E A K S Q A Q A Q A How do you perceive the current real estate market and what is your strategic approach to confront these market changes? The real estate market has faced a bubble-burst in recent days. I would say it is a temporary cyclic phase, as the demand and supply are getting maximised. The realty boom started 5 years back, where it l e d to a huge spurt of supply without matching the latent demand. The demand of affordable housing in the Tier II and III cities will, however, boost the Real estate Business in India in the long term. Economic parameters like inflation rate, fluctuating home loan interests, government regulations etc, directly affect the real estate market. We are quite proactive in our response to these market changes, in terms of price and demand. We also make sure that our long term strategies are formulated after extensive research and analysis of the market potential and our product design and development is competitive enough to stand out. In your opinion, what is the strength of Era Landmarks? Era Landmarks has a definite edge over its competitors in the form of the group strengths of the renowned construction conglomerate, with over two decades of track record. Also, Era group is known as one of the fastest growing construction companies and the same is reflecting in our realty business as well. The company benefits a lot from its in-house R & D and construction expertise. Which are the areas where Era Landmarks needs to improve within its system? Well, I strongly believe that, Era Landmarks, as a company, has created its own System to excel. The best way of achieving success is to first understand oneself, then set one's own goals & limits to achieve and then be a part of the race. So, the system is not external, it is within you and what you make of it. And where improvement & motivation for change is concerned, it is the medicine! What is important is to have the zing to succeed in every aspect of life. At Era Landmarks, we believe in High Quality assurance and Timely Delivery. Landmark projects S I R S A 6 7

H E A L T H Experience healthy living The health of a company lies in the health of its employees. Recognizing this vital adage, the Era Construction & Contracts Division organized a health care camp for its employees in collaboration with Kailash Sanjeevni Health Assurance. The event, held at Hotel Batra, was inaugurated by the Division Head, Mr. T.D. Arora. The highlight of the camp was a detailed health check-up of the employees. The check-up consisted of: Investigations(14 tests): Haemoglobin/MCV/BloodCholestrol/TLC/MCHC/LipidProfile/DLC/Platelet Count/Urine Routine/RBC/ Blood Sugar /ESR/ Blood Urea /ECG Check-up: Complete physical examination Dental check-up Eye-check-up Diet counseling - MCS Bhakuni, GM - HR, Construction and Contracts Division 8

C O M M U N I C A T I O N Shape your personality With growing competition, and to cope with the demands of interaction with vendors and corporate officials on a day to day basis for the development of business, it is important for every employee to keep himself or herself updated. To this end, it has become essential to invest in the development of Personality & Communication Skills of employees. Realizing the importance of English Language, which is a global communication tool today, the Construction & Contracts Division is organizing Communication Workshops on English Language on every Friday from 1st of July 2008. The first session was inaugurated by the Division Head, Mr T D Arora. The workshops are aimed at helping the employees strengthen their oral and written communication in English language. - MCS Bhakuni, GM - HR, Construction and Contracts Division Rakhi the thread of love Rakhi or Raksha is a sacred thread embellished with sister's love and affection for her brother. On the day of Raksha Bandhan sisters tie Rakhi on their brother's wrist and express their love for him. By accepting a Rakhi from a sister a brother gladly takes on the responsibility of protecting her sister. In Indian tradition the frail thread of Rakhi is considered stronger than iron chains as it binds brothers and sisters in an inseparable bond of love and trust. 9

Y O U R S P A C E Experience the spark This is about us. For you, who have come to office, leaving the comfort of your homes (or in some cases discomfort), to become something in your life. There are few days in human life when one is truly elated. The first day in office is one of them. When you were getting ready for that day, you felt a tingling in your stomach. What would the office be like, how would the bosses be, who would be your new colleaguesthere is so much to be curious about. I call this excitement, the spark within you that makes you feel truly alive. What is important is to keep that spark shining. Or to put it in another way, to be happy most, if not all, the time. Where do these sparks start? I think we are born with them. Kids have a million sparks. A little Spiderman toy can make them jump on the bed with joy. They do a daily countdown for birthday party several months in advance waiting eagerly for the day they will cut their next birthday cake. I see students, and I still see in them some sparks. But when I see older people, the spark is difficult to find. So how to save this spark? It is human nature to strive, improve and achieve full potential. In fact, that is success. It is what is possible for you. It isn't an external measure - a certain cost that you put to the company pay package, or to a particular car or a house. Most of us are from middle class families. To us, having material landmarks is success. And rightly so, because when you have grown up and money constraints force everyday choices, financial freedom is a big achievement. 10 But that isn't the purpose of life. If that was the case, Mr. Ambani would not show up for work. Mr. Shah Rukh Khan would stay at home and not dance anymore. Mr. Steve Jobs won't be working hard to make a better iphone, having sold

Y O U R S P A C E Pixar for billions of dollars already. Why do they do it? What makes them come to work everyday? They do it because it makes them happy. They do it because it makes them feel alive. You must have read some quotes 'Life is a tough race, it is a marathon or whatever'. That's not really true. In fact, from what I have seen so far, life is one of those races in nursery school, where you have to run with a marble in a spoon kept in your mouth. If the marble falls, there is no point coming first. The same applies to life, where health and relationships are the marbles you have to retain. Your striving is only worth it if there is harmony in your life. Else, you may achieve success, but this spark, this feeling of being excited and alive, will start to die. --Trina Das, Marketing, Era Landmarks 11

Y O U R S P A C E Golden Rules of Success 1. Keep track of what you do; someone is sure to ask. 2. Never bring your boss a problem without some solution. 3. You are getting paid to think, not to whine. 4. Long hours don't mean anything; results count, not effort. 5. Write down ideas; they get lost, like good pens. 6. Always arrive at work 30 minutes before your boss. 7. Treat everyone who works in the organization with respect and dignity. 8. Always choose to do what you'll remember ten years from now. 9. Avoid working at weekends. Work longer during the week if you have to. Moreover, don't stay late in night, it doesn't creates impression, rather shows lack in your productivity. 10. Be loyal to your career, your interest and yourself. - Supriya, HR-Trainee, Corporate 12
