SRM 7.0.0.0ELEVATORS AND TABS - STRUCTURAL IDENTIFICATION 1. General This section identifies the skin panels and structural components of the elevators, trim tabs and spring tabs. Details are given of: specific location; material specifications and related commercial designations; material thicknesses; limits of allowable damage; and approved repairs. 2. Construction The elevators are of all metal construction consisting of a main and intermediate spar of full length with a leading edge spar broken at the hinge positions and a trailing edge spar broken in way of the tab horn. spars are self flanged 2024-T42 material. A 2024-T42 lipped angle stringer is located between the leading edge and main spars at both top and bottom surfaces. Ribs are perpendicular to and intercostal with the spars and are self-flanged 2024-T42. Forward of the front spar the ribs have cut-outs to cater for the stringers. Top, bottom and nose skins are chemi-etched 2024-T3 material with the nose skins housing the internal mass balance weights which extend over their entire length. Fail safe 7075-T7351 tab hinge brackets are attached to the main spar. The elevator tab is of similar construction to the rudder tab (Refer to 55-40-00, pb1.) 3. Structure Identification The following pages contain diagrams and text to define the components, skin materials and thicknesses that comprise the Elevators and Tabs. Page 1

SRM 9.0.0.0ELEVATOR AND TRIM TABS - REPAIRS 1. General The following pages contain details of approved repairs to the elevator and trim tabs. Reference must also be made to CHAPTER 51, for further information regarding structural damage and repair practices of a general nature. It is to be noted that due to the similarity in construction of the Elevator to the Horiontal Stabiliser, some of the approved repairs are applicable to both assemblies. CAUTION: THESE REPAIRS MAY AFFECT THE FATIGUE CRITICAL BASELINE STRUCTURE. REFER TO 51-00-01 FOR FURTHER INFORMATION ON FCBS AND PROCEDURES TO BE FOLLOWED, PRIOR TO INCORPORATING ANY OF THESE REPAIRS. 2.
