! Series at a Glance for Elevate (continued) Lesson 1: Dizzying Times Some days feel like everything is changing. You might not understand a lesson, have an argument with your best friend, or even move to a new place. The great news is, whatever happens, God will always have a plan for you, and He will always be the same. This week, we ll find out how a man named Daniel trusted God, even through a difficult time. Lesson 2: Singled Out Step onto the stage, the spotlight is on you! What do you do? Sometimes, choosing what God says is right will mean living differently from others. This week, we ll see that following God is worth it, even when it means standing out. : Brain Games How does your mind work? Do you prefer reading a book, or watching a movie? Would you rather write a story, or tell a story out loud? Every person s mind is different, but God designed them all! This week, we ll hear how Daniel helped a king with some confusing problems, and see that however your mind works, God made it for a reason! Lesson 4: Partner Up Some obstacles can t be conquered alone. Who do you have on your team? Sometimes friends, family, and other people can help us, but there is only one who will always be there, wherever you are. This week, we ll see how God can help us when our problems seem too big to handle alone. Lesson 5: Which Way? When you face an important choice, how do you decide which way is right? For Daniel, that decision was simple, because he trusted God s way, no matter what. We can trust God in the same way today! Lesson 6: The Champion This week, we ll hear how God s Son, Jesus, overcame every obstacle to give us the chance to have a relationship with God. He is the greatest example of how to live, and the one we can trust with our lives, because He gave His life for us. 3

Opening Song and Welcome 1:00 (Roll when directed) Elevate Opener Hey everyone! It s time to come up to the front, throw away your popcorn, and tell me a riddle! Do This: Let a few kids tell you a riddle, and tell you the answer. If it s appropriate, you can have the whole group guess. Know This: If no kids come up with riddles, you can ask one or two of these: Q. What word is spelled wrong in every dictionary? A. Wrong. Q. What invention lets you look right through a wall? A. A window. Q. What gets wetter as it dries? A. A towel. (Auto advance) Elevate Slide and Underscore Riddles can be tough, but I hope you re ready for more brain exercises as we continue our series:! Team Time 14:00 Series Title Slide: We ve been talking about times when life feels like an obstacle course. Not every obstacle looks like a giant swing or a spinning arm, though. Sometimes, the biggest obstacles we face are things that only happen in our minds. Things like homework, friendships, and confusing questions. Why can t I figure out this assignment? Why does reading, history, science, math, or whatever other class you re struggling with feel so difficult? Today, we re going to hear about people who asked questions like that, see what they did, play some games, and get to talk about why God made our minds the way He did. Let s get started with an activity called Brain Games. 5

Game Title Slide: Brain Games Around the room, there are five signs. Each one has a different puzzle for your group to solve together! Once your group is done with the puzzle, you can move on to the next one! Your challenge is to get them all done correctly in eight minutes. Do you think you can do that? Know This: If you have a large number of kids, you may simply want to give each leader all five puzzles and have them go through them one at a time, without moving around the room. You will receive digital copies of the signs, so you can print extra if needed. Alright, you can head over to your group flag! Your leaders will lead you to your first puzzle. Ready, set, go! 8:00 countdown and fun game music Great job! Did anyone finish all five of the puzzles? Series Title Slide: and clear audio You can come back to the front, but sit by your group and answer this question of the day together! Question of the Day video (Auto Advance) QOTD Slide: What s something you love to tell others about? What s something you love to tell others about? Think about it, then turn to the people around you, and tell them your answer. Be sure to listen to their answers, too! Let s go! Do This: Interact with the kids. You can ask one or two of them to share their answers, but give them a minute or so to talk to each other, too. Series Title Slide: 6

All of us are a little different, and it s always so fun to hear someone talk about something they really care about. It was fun to listen to all of you, too! Media: Part 1 5:00 Today, Rue is facing a super puzzling obstacle. Let s find out what it is! The Source: Part 1 (5:00) (Auto advance) Series Title Slide: It s obvious that we re all different, some people are short, some are tall, some have blonde hair, some have red, brown, black, or gray hair. Even our minds work differently. Why is that? You ll get to talk about that in group time. Look for your group leader and your flag, and head over there now! I ll see you again in a few minutes. Group Time 15:00 15:00 Group Time Countdown (Auto advance) Series Title Slide: Do This: Make sure each kid finds their group. Help group leaders if there is a need. Encourage kids as they work to answer the question. Know This: This time is designed for kids to interact and deepen their understanding. They won t get all the answers, but we can allow them to question and discover as much as possible. Do This: Give the groups a warning about one minute before this time is up. Media: Part 2 9:00 7

Hey everyone! Come on back, and get ready to see what happens in the Source team s adventure. The Source: Part 2 (9:00) (Auto advance) Series Title Slide: What a crazy time for Daniel. There s so much we could learn from him, but I want to point out one huge, important thing. Application 6:00 Rue said this, and it s super important for us to remember. Big Idea Slide: God designed my mind. God designed my mind. Can you say that with me? Do This: Say the Big Idea with the kids. It s way too easy to look at a bad grade or compare yourself to others who seem to learn more easily than you do and forget that this is true. God designed your mind to work the way it does. God made some of us to learn well by listening. Others learn better by doing. Others learn better by seeing a picture of what they re learning about. Some people enjoy learning math, others love to read. Some people love to build things, some would rather write a paper. All of those things are part of how God has designed your mind. Series Title Slide: Now that you know this, it changes a lot. You know that it s ok to learn differently than others do. You know that having better grades doesn t make you a better person. You know it s good to learn, but you aren t defined by how much you know or don t know. Finally, you know that God understands the way you think and learn, because He made you that way. 8

You know some really important things, but now I want to see what else you remember from today. It s time for a rapid recap game! Game Title Slide: Rapid Recap Get up on your feet! I m going to read a question, and give you four answers. You have to show me what answer you choose by making that letter with your arms. Do This: Quickly show kids how to make each letter. For example: for A, put your hands together above your head. For b put one arm straight up, and the other touching it at the elbow. For C, put both arms out to the side, but not touching. For D do the same as C, but touch your hands together. Ready? Let s go to our first question! What is this series called? A. Super Splash B. C. Epic Fail D. Clean Sweep What is this series we re in called? Is it A. Super splash? B. Wipe out? C. Epic fail? Or D. Clean sweep? Show me your answers! Alright, let s see if you re correct. What is this series called? B. The answer is B.! Great job, let s go to a harder question! (SOURCE RELATED QUESTION) Let s see if you re correct! SOURCE RELATED ANSWER The answer is Great job, let s hear another question! (SOURCE RELATED QUESTION 2) Let s see if you re correct! 9

SOURCE RELATED ANSWER 2 Wow! Great job, let s try another one! What obstacle was Rue trying to get through? A. What obstacle was Rue trying to get through today? Was it (FILL IN OPTIONS) RUE RELATED ANSWER Nice! Our next question is about Daniel s story. Which of these things was not in the statue Nebuchadnezzar dreamed about? A. Gold B. Copper C. Silver D. Clay Which of these things was not in the statue Nebuchadnezzar dreamed about? Was it gold, copper, silver, or clay? Show me your answers. Now, let s find out! Which of these things was not in the statue Nebuchadnezzar dreamed about? B. Copper The answer is B. Copper! That was a tough question. For our last one, let s try some random brain-related trivia. Which of these animals has the largest brain? A. Elephant B. Gorilla C. Killer Whale D. Stegosaurus Which of these animals has the largest brain? Is it an elephant, a gorilla, a killer whale, or a stegosaurus? Show me your answer! Let s see if you re correct. 10

Which of these animals has the largest brain? C. Killer Whale It s the killer whale, with a brain that comes in at about 15 pounds. That s five times bigger than a person s brain. Great job everyone! The way our world is made is just amazing. It s awesome how God designed all of it so creatively. You can stay standing up, because next we re going to sing about how wonderful God is. Worship Slide Worship 8:00 This first song is one we heard for the first time last week, so it s still pretty new. If we re following Jesus, we want people to know that, just by watching us and listening to us. When they look at us, we want them to see we re following God. That s what this song is all about! Song #1: Look at Me (Auto-Advance) Worship Slide Let s keep on worshipping God with another great song! Song #2: Heartbeat (Auto advance) Series Title Slide: Wrap-Up 1:00 11

I enjoy singing with you a ton. We re going to finish by talking to God. Whatever obstacle you re facing, God cares about it. He loves you and will always listen when you talk to Him. Let s do that now. God, thank you for designing us so creatively. You are amazing. Help us to trust you and follow you this week. In Jesus name, amen. I ve had a lot of fun hanging out with you all today, I hope to see you next week! Elevate Slide Start hangtime music videos 12
