www.manateepatchworkers.org December 2018 President s Corner Can you believe the holidays are upon us? I can t. It seems like each year goes by faster and faster. Anyway, it is time to celebrate and be with family and friends. And, if you are brave enough, to get out and shop for those special loved ones. One of my goals over the next month is to sew some holiday presents. I plan on making an apron for my cousin and some pillow cases for my daughter -in-law. And, of course, I have multiple other projects I am working on as well. On a different subject...for us quilters, we generally have more than one sewing machine. And, what I am learning as I continue my quilting journey, is that I like to use different machines for different tasks. I have a heavy-duty machine which is great for quilting and binding, but when it comes to piecing, I like to use my smaller machine. And, of course, I have multiple rulers that I like to use for different cutting as well. I love my 3 by 12 Quilter s Select ruler for trimming. And my Stripology Ruler is great for sub-cutting jelly roll strips. Of course, it never seems that I have enough rulers. Hope to see all of you at our Holiday Party on Monday, December 3rd. Alison Parks December 3 We will have our Holiday gathering at the Salvation Army at 7:00 p.m. Come help to celebrate the season! The guild will provide snacks. Bring a quilt-shop-quality fat quarter and your show and tell; if you wish to participate in a fun exchange, bring a wrapped ornament costing less than $10. A donation of nonperishable food for the Salvation Army would be appreciated.
