The covenants God made with Adam and Noah were inclusive to all mankind.

The covenants God made with Adam and Noah were inclusive to all mankind. But starting in Day THREE, God s covenants were exclusive to a particular people his CHOSEN people.

God s Covenant With Abraham Abraham received great promises from God even before he began his journey. Genesis 12:1-3 1 Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father's house, unto a land that I will shew thee: 2 And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing: 3 And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.

God s Covenant With Abraham The Almighty God now attached himself to a particular people. He called himself the God of Abraham, and of Isaac, and of Jacob. Exodus 3:6 Moreover he said, I am the God of thy father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. And Moses hid his face; for he was afraid to look upon God.

The promises were CONDITIONAL based upon their obedience: Exodus 19:5-6 5 Now therefore, if ye will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant, then ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto me above all people: for all the earth is mine: 6 And ye shall be unto me a kingdom of priests, and an holy nation. These are the words which thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel.

The Covenant of the Law of Moses The tribes of Israel were God s chosen people regardless of whether they kept the Law. The Law taught them the works that accompany righteous living and a proper relationship with God. Deuteronomy 11:27-28 27 A blessing, if ye obey the commandments of the LORD your God, which I command you this day: 28 And a curse, if ye will not obey the commandments of the LORD your God, but turn aside out of the way which I command you this day, to go after other gods, which ye have not known.

God s Covenant With David About 400 years later, God made a covenant with King David concerning the eternal continuance of his kingdom.

The high point in the RISE of Israel was the dedication of the House of God built by Solomon.

2 Chronicles 7:1-3 1 Now when Solomon had made an end of praying, the fire came down from heaven, and consumed the burnt offering and the sacrifices; and the glory of the LORD filled the house. 2 And the priests could not enter into the house of the LORD, because the glory of the LORD had filled the LORD'S house. 3 And when all the children of Israel saw how the fire came down, and the glory of the LORD upon the house, they bowed themselves with their faces to the ground upon the pavement, and worshipped, and praised the LORD, saying, For he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever.
