2014-04-24 2 No 491 Affected charts and Notices Underrättelser för sjöfarande (Ufs) is an official Swedish publication which provides information pertaining to shipping in the Baltic Sea Area and Kattegat, as well as Skagerrak east of a line drawn between Hanstholm and Lindesnes. The information on foreign waters is largely confined to significant occurrences which may affect Swedish charts. Ufs is thus wholly unsuited for the purpose of keeping BAcharts and/or other national charts updated. An asterisk (*) in front of the number denotes that the notice is based on information obtained from Swedish source material and that the details contained therein affect Swedish waters. When the letter (P) is adjacent to the notice number it serves as an indication that the notice is of a preliminary nature. Such notices will later be replaced by corresponding ones containing definitive information. Similarly, when the letter (T) is placed adjacent to the notice number it denotes that the notice is of a temporary nature. In case no period of validity is given, this type of notice will be rendered invalid either when a new Temporary Notice is promulgated or if pertaining conditions cease to exist. Bearings are true and given clockwise from 000 to 360 and, when given in conjunction with lights, indicate a direction from seaward. Featured chartlets are primarily intended to simplify chart correction work and are not always true to scale. In general, they show the largest charted scale available for respective area. Affected charts Notice no Sign 6 9476 7 9478 (T) 8 9478 (T) 41 9484 (T) 61 9476 74 9477 (T) 74 9478 (T) 121 9482 (T) 421 9484 (T) 619 9476 741 9474 (T) 742 9477 (T) 742 9478 (T) 743 9477 (T) 743 9478 (T) 6141 9475 6142 9475 6181 9485 (T) Responsibility for the factual content published in Ufs rests with the informant. Chart corrections and other information attributed to a specific geographical area can be found under NOTICES. Other information is found under ANNOUNCEMENTS, starting on pg. 3. The periodical Ufs is normally published every Thursday and can be downloaded as a PDF-file from the homepage of the Swedish Maritime Administration. Note that as the file is automatically generated from a database unintentional page breaks may occur at random. Further information on the use of Ufs can be found in the annual publication Ufs A. Reporting dangers and errors All observations concerning floating aids to navigation, unlit beacons and lights, objects adrift or any other occurrence which may have a detrimental impact on safety at sea are to be forwarded to MSI Sweden at the earliest possible opportunity. 2014-04-24 3 No 491 ANNOUNCEMENTS * 9479 (T) VHF service for SAR, VTS, Pilots, MSI and AIS temporarily restricted. CHANGES. Expired notices: 2014:485/9395(T) Time: Until 30 May 2014. Extensive work on the modernization of the Swedish Coastal Radio Network is in progress. All shore based VHFstations will be replaced during the spring of 2014. This work will be performed according to a schedule which allows neighboring transceivers to 'fill in' for the inoperative station. The work at each station will be done solely during ordinary working hours on the dates given below. The work will affect the VHF services for JRCC, VTS, MSI, Pilotage, AIS and Stockholmradio as follows: JRCC (SWEDEN RESCUE): The availability of VHF CH 16, 67, DSC and traffic channels will temporarily be impaired. VTS: During periods when the VHF coverage of a specific VTS area is insufficient, availability of VTS services cannot be guaranteed. Information about this will, if needed, be broadcast in a navigational warning. Ships are asked to make a general call on the appropriate VHF channel when passing reporting points if the VTS Centre is not replying to VHF calls. MSI SWEDEN: Broadcast of navigational warnings and weather will take place as usual but will not be transmitted via affected stations. PILOTS: VHF calls to affected Pilot Centre may not be ansvered. Pilot boats will be maintaining watch on designated VHF channels as usual. STOCKHOLMRADIO: Affected VHF channels may not be available for calls. AIS: JRCC, VTS, Pilots and Coast Guard may have less ability to track and/or monitor ships by means of AIS. The table below shows the days when work on each VHF station will take place. Works will only be performed during daytime. At each station there are generally several different VHF channels used for the above mentioned services. CHANGES.
