Invitation Dear Sir or Madam, I am pleased to invite you to the conference Digitising Manufacturing in the G20 Initiatives, Best Practices and Policy Approaches on 16 and 17 March 2017 at the bcc Congress Center in Berlin. Under the German G20 Presidency, Shaping an Interconnected World, ministers with responsibility for the digital economy will meet for the first time on 6-7 April 2017. In this context, the Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy is organising an event which focuses in particular on the manufacturing sector. The digitalised industry Industrie 4.0 as we call it in Germany has a potential to foster the global wellbeing through a more efficient and sustainable production. It will be my pleasure to open this conference, which will serve as a platform for top level stakeholders and decision makers from industry, governments and civil society, as well as such initiatives as the German Plattform Industrie 4.0 from all G20 states for a two days exchange and discussion. A mixture of plenary and workshop sessions, and manifold networking possibilities will give you the opportunity to explore and discuss the concepts, ideas and approaches of the G20 states in the field of digitalisation in the manufacturing sector to unleash a new global economic potential. We will focus on how digitalisation affects the G20 states, discuss regulatory concepts and approaches with regard to Industry 4.0 topics, such as IT-security, standardisation, global workforce development, societal issues, transformations of global value chains, cycle economy and present best practices. Programme Day 1 16 March Moderation: Melinda Crane 08:45 am Registration & walking breakfast The kick-off event will be the opening of the exhibition representatives of innovative Industry 4.0 initiatives from the countries of the G20 will present their projects and give you the opportunity to enter into discussion and to connect with them. 10:00 am Opening speeches Shaping global digitalisation of production: How to unleash global economic potential Taking the perspective of Germany and China, two speakers will present the effects that the digital transformation is having on their economies, as well as on the global economy. 10:30 am Digital trends in production and industry 12:00 am Lunch break Keynote Digitalisation of industry and competitiveness Panel I Factories of the future from global value chains to interconnected global value networks What developments determine the strategy of a multinational enterprise? How can SMEs benefit from digital transformation? How do we best deal with the new global interconnectedness within the value network? CEOs from various countries will present insights into the strategic and technological decisions that are shaping the digital future of their businesses.

1:30 pm Panel II Shaping the future of industry together: How can coordination between different industrial sectors enhance progress in digital production processes? National initiatives will present their strategies and experiences. One focus will be on the necessity of having an interactive dialogue between all stakeholders. 2:30 pm Break-out session 1 Interactive panel discussions will provide room for more in-depth discussion. Programme Day 2 17 March Moderation: Melinda Crane 8:00 am Registration 9:00 am Welcome to Day 2 9:05 am Strategic approaches towards a digital industry: How can governments support the digital transformation? Keynotes by leading politicians from different G20 countries. This session will take account of the different economic situations and digital maturity of the G20. Tailored solutions will be discussed that are intended to facilitate the implementation of Industry 4.0 and increase the acceptance of digital transformation in the business sector and of society in each country. An interactive dialogue will spot-light what needs to be done to ensure that effective governmental activities are implemented. 10:00 am Global impacts of digitalisation 11:10 am Coffee break Panel discussion Is digitalisation a game-changer? Global impacts of digitalising industry Renowned experts from different sectors will discuss the effects of digitalisation beyond the economic perspective including how society will adapt and adjust to the changes, where the challenges lie, and what strategies can mitigate unwanted effects.
