Health & Safety Health & Safety looks at how safe and healthy people are at work and how it could be improved. History History looks at events that happened in the past. Human Rights Information Technology Irish Human rights are those rights which are held by all human beings e.g. the right to life and freedom, the right to equality, etc. Information Technology looks at how different pieces of technology, e.g. computers, mobile phones, etc. work together and store information. Laws about: crime, companies, housing, human rights, health, disability, families, the European union, newspapers, TV, radio, entertainment, computers, land, the sea. Students study books on Latin America, arts and culture, history and politics. In addition to the sea s plants and animals, Marine looks at the sea s importance to human beings and human beings impact on the marine environment. Marketing looks at what the customer wants and the best way to make that happen. Maths Mechanical (General) (Midwifery) (Psychiatric) Maths is the study of numbers. A Mechanical Engineer designs and develops everything that qualifies as a device or machine, from an item as simple as a can opener to a modern jet aircraft. General nursing involves caring for individuals of all ages, families, groups and communities, sick or well and in all settings. includes the promotion of health and the prevention of illness. Midwifery nursing is about helping mothers when they are pregnant and when they give birth to a baby. Psychiatric nurses help people who have mental health issues and promote good mental health and wellbeing. 4

Podiatry is about looking after people s lower limbs and feet. Politics Politics is the way we decide the rules about how we live in society. Psychology Psychology is the study of the mind and how it works. Speech and Language Therapy Sociology Speech and Language Therapists help people who have difficulty speaking and swallowing. Sociology looks at how people live in society. It looks at the things that influence people and help shape their lives. Theatre and Performance Theatre and Performance is for students who want to learn about the theatre and put on plays. 5
