Orginally noted to Mr John Johnson, then changed to Jacob Be es. Item #4 (scan reduced), 1910 12c Special Delivery printed ma er rate, Ingersoll to London, Ont. large cover folded at le with Printer s Copy, corner loss at UR and LR. Scarce. $100 Item #5 (scan reduced). 10c UPU to Belgium paid with 10c Edward with PRECANCEL roller applied over free frank signature, to Brussells, Belgium. (postage had to be paid outside of Canada and free frank not valid). From Department of Interrir, Office of Geographer and likely a map sent overseas. The item is a FRONT only and is quite scarce as a printed ma er rate. $250
Item #6. 1913 1c booklet stamps (Type BO-1) ed by Lachine duplex to Presco, Ont. Two different handstamps asking the account to be paid. This could be considered a dunning le er and was against regula ons, although the sender likely avoid any complaint as the request is phrased as We need cash rather than Pay your damn bill. The Canadian PO was quite careful about dunning le ers. It would cost you only 50c to enter but you have the chance to win a premium will be awarded for the best Cock (Sec. 1). Item #14. 1881 American Express Money Packet label, Petrolia, Ontario (creased) on American Express cover containing $24.00 to Hamilton, Ontario. The sender was sending a premium payment to the Canada Mutual Fire Insurance Company in Hamilton. The express company fee was 25c prepaid and was carried over the Sarnia Branch of the Great Western Railway to Hamilton. Canadian express labels are rare and most are Ex Harrison, as this one is too. $1,000
Item #15. 1916 FPO Camp Hughes, two strikes e 1c, 2c booklet stamps (Plate 15+16 2nd type) and BR-6 on cover paying 2c preferred Empire rate plus 1c War Tax to the Irish Free State. $100 Item #16. 1918 FPO London mili a hs (two par al strikes) e 7c Admiral and 2+1c War Tax, registered to St. Thomas, with both a purple and black oval R hs. The reverse with a be er FPO London mili a hs and a blue boxed MHCC F Unit bs. Registered FPO mili a covers are quite scarce and o en sent by military officials, as this le er likely is, on MFP 300 form envelope. $100
Item #17. Newfoundland 1902 19c registered le er rate, Bonavista (JA 21) to London, England, with a most unusual franking of 19 1c green Queen Victoria stamps, a strip of four and a BLOCK OF 16, wow. Liverpool and London oval registered hs as well. $250
Item #18. 1931 St. John s Nfld slogan es 15c on first flight cover to Conche, then St. Georges. Reverse with oval Sandy Point hs and St. John s Keep Sunday Sacred slogan. $40 Item #19. 1840 Digby, NS star cancel, not rated and presumably free to Provincial Treasurer Charles Wallace at Halifax. Le er is from Joseph Marshall and his account of expenses on the Grand Road. $75
Item #20. Sydney, NS star cancel on 1837 SFL le er to Halifax, rated 1N3 plus 1d local carrier free, for a total 1/4 Cy collect. The le er is regarding loading of a ship from Sydney Mines bound for Boston. $75 Item #21. Truro, NS star cancel on SFL 1842 to Halifax, rated 5d collect. The le er is from William Hill Dill (died 1819), and he asks to borrow McLelan s copy of the Rules of the Supreme Court and the laws of Probate. The le er is to Gloud Wilson McLelan (1796-1858) who served as an MPP of Nova Sco a from 1836 un l 1858, dying in office. At the me he was in the 16th General Assembly of Nova Sco a (1840-1843). $75
