Type FS Penstock Is a robust product made from high quality stainless steel, either 304 or 316L with brass wedges and EPDM ring seal, providing a low maintenance solution. Standard sizes available are from 100 mm to 1000 mm diameter in 50 mm increments. Where a penstock is required to be installed within a circular chamber, Jacopa can supply a stainless steel adapter, manufactured to the chamber curvature. Type FS EL Penstock (with Electrical Actuator) The FS Penstock range can be fitted with an electrical actuator to enable powered control of the opening / closing/ this can be controlled via a level controller / control panel to action the penstock at certain level conditions. Rotork or Auma modulating Actuator, operated via local Control panel.
Type DS Penstock (Throttle Penstock) The throttle penstock is used to reduce the flow passing downstream to prevent hydraulic overloading of the downstream network. As the maximum flow rate is achieved at maximum head, the orifice of the penstock can be calculated to have a certain opening to limit the maximum flow required. Adjustment: The required flow rate is pre-calibrated at the factory in accordance with the adjustment table. This initial flow rate can be adjusted by the client on site. The unit can be adjusted in-situ by using the scale located on the side of the unit. SA Float Controlled Penstock The SA Penstock has a float which operates a shutter to open / close the orifice. This type of penstock can be used to prevent surcharging up a lateral pipe, or limit the water level within a chamber. The SA Penstock can be used to close an inlet or outlet of a chamber at a pre-determined position. This unit is non-powered and can be a cost effective option to using a powered penstock. When the float is in its lowest position, the orifice is fully open; as the float rises, the shutter reduces the orifice area, reducing the flow. When the float reaches its top position the orifice is completely closed. Sizes from 100 mm to 1000 mm are manufactured as standard units, but other sizes and requirements can be accommodated. The float radius can be adjusted to alter open / closed positions if required. The standard models are manufactured to resist an upstream head of 3m, but can be strengthened if a higher head is likely. This needs to be determined at time of design. The following table provides size details of the standard units and open / closed positions.
