Science and Technology, Department of/ Wetenskap en Tegnologie, Departement van 1301 Astronomy Geographic Advantage Act (21/2007): Notice of Proposed Exemption for Radio Frequency Spectrum Use within the Karoo Central Astronomy Advantage Areas 42057 4 No. 42057 GOVERNMENT GAZETTE, 23 NOVEMBER 2018 Government Notices Goewermentskennisgewings DEPARTMENT OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY NO. 1301 23 NOVEMBER 2018 NOTICE OF PROPOSED EXEMPTION FOR RADIO FREQUENCY SPECTRUM USE WITHIN THE KAROO CENTRAL ASTRONOMY ADVANTAGE AREAS Former Minister of Science and Technology, Honourable Naledi Pandor, published Regulations on the Protection of the Karoo Central Astronomy Advantage Areas in terms of sections 50 and 51 of the Astronomy Geographic Advantage Act, 2007 (Act No. 21 of 2007) (hereinafter referred to as "the AGA Act ") in Government Gazette No. 41321, under Notice No. 1411, on 15 December 2017, effective from 15 December 2018. The AGA Act provides, inter alia, for the use of radio frequencies to be prohibited or restricted in order to minimise Radio Frequency Interference (RFI) within the declared Karoo Central Astronomy Advantage Areas. In terms of Regulation 3 of Schedule A of the said Regulations, the use of the radio frequency spectrum from 100 MHz to 25 500 MHz (25.5 GHz) and radio transmission within that spectrum are prohibited unless the spectrum to be used has been exempted from this prohibition. In terms of Sub regulation 3(4) of Schedule B of the said Regulations, the list of exempted radio frequency spectrum will be published within six (6) months after 15 December 2018. The purpose of this notice, in terms of Regulation 3 of Schedule B of the said Regulations, is to notify all existing licensees and licence exempt operators who operate radio stations within the Karoo Central Astronomy Advantage Areas and who are listed in the permanent register of interested and affected parties for the Karoo Central Astronomy Advantage Areas, of the list of the radio frequency spectrum proposed for exemption from the prohibition on its use for transmissions located within the Karoo Central Astronomy Advantage Areas. 10 No. 42057 GOVERNMENT GAZETTE, 23 NOVEMBER 2018 KENNISGEWING VAN VOORGESTELDE VRYSTELLING VIR RADIO - FREKWENSIE SPEKTRUMGEBRUIK BINNE DIE KAROO SENTRALE ASTRONOMIE VOORDEELGEBIEDE Die vorige Minister van Wetenskap en Tegnologie, Agbare Naledi Pandor, het regulasies gepubliseer vir die Beskerming van die Karoo Sentrale Astronomievoordeelgebiede kragtens artikels 50 en 51 van die Wet op Geografiese Astronomievoordeel, 2007 (Wet no. 21 van 2007) (hierna hierin verwys as "die AGA Wet "), in Staatskoerant No. 41321, onder Kennisgewing No. 1411, op 15 Desember 2017. Die genoemde Regulasies sal effektief word op 15 Desember 2018. Die AGA Wet maak voorsiening, onder andere, vir 'n verbod of beperking op die gebruik van radiofrekwensies om Radiofrekwensie Steuring (RFS) binne die verklaarde Karoo Sentrale Astronomievoordeelgebiede te minimaliseer. Kragtens Regulasie 3 in Skedule A van die genoemde regulasies, is die gebruik van die radiofrekwensie spektrum vanaf 100 MHz tot 25 500 MHz (25.5 GHz) en radio - uitsendings binne daardie spektrum, verbied tensy die spektrum om gebruik te word, vrygestel is van daardie verbod. Kragtens Subregulasie 3(4) van Skedule B van die genoemde Regulasies, sal die lys van vrygestelde radiofrekwensie spektrum binne ses (6) maande na 15 Desember 2018, gepubliseer word. Die doel van hierdie kennisgewing, kragtens Regulasie 3 van Skedule B van die genoemde regulasies, is om al die bestaande lisensiehouers en lisensie -vrygestelde operateurs wat radio stasies binne Karoo Sentrale Astronomievoordeelgebiede bedryf en wie gelys is in die permanente register van geïnteresseerde en belanghebbende partye vir die Karoo Sentrale Astronomievoordeelgebiede, in kennis te stel van die voorgestelde lys van radiofrekwensie spektrum vir vrystelling van die verbod op die gebruik daarvan vir uitsendings binne die Karoo Sentrale Astronomievoordeelgebiede geleë. Geïnteresseerde en belanghebbende partye word uitgenooi om geskrewe vertoë oor en /of besware teen die voorgestelde lys van radiofrekwensie spektrum om vrygestel te word, soos in die aangehegte Skedule uiteengesit, binne neëntig (90) dae vanaf die datum van hierdie kennisgewing, voor te lê aan: Mnr. To all suppliers and potential suppliers of goods to the Government Printing Works The Government Printing Works would like to warn members of the public against an organised syndicate(s) scamming unsuspecting members of the public and claiming to act on behalf of the Government Printing Works. One of the ways in which the syndicate operates is by requesting quotations for various goods and services on a quotation form with the logo of the Government Printing Works. Once the official order is placed the syndicate requesting upfront payment before delivery will take place. Once the upfront payment is done the syndicate do not deliver the goods and service provider then expect payment from Government Printing Works. Government Printing Works condemns such illegal activities and encourages service providers to confirm the legitimacy of purchase orders with GPW SCM, prior to processing and delivery of goods.
