UPCOMING EVENTS 05/19 PQ Summer Party PQ s Website Check the latest news on our website www.hypersytes.com/pqwebsite Next Newsletter deadline: JUNE 6 th Message from the President Susan Herman The retreat at Daysprings was a lot of fun for all who attended! If you have not ever been on a quilting retreat, you need to try it sometime. There really is nothing like it for fun, laughs, food, quilting, and giggles! Now we have the May party to look forward to with the silent auction. Bring your cash or checkbooks, ladies... there is going to be TONS of stuff to buy, from quilts to wall hangings, to fabric bundles, to patterns galore, to more books than you can shake a stick at!! See you there! Susan Herman Tea Party or centerpiece idea from Pacific Bride at http://pacificbrideguide.blogspot.com/2008/06/color-palettemodern-tea-party.html VP REPORT Teri Roberts I want to thank Lynn Woods for the great work she has been doing with programs for the past 1 ½ years. If you missed the April meeting, you missed a great program presented by Judy Hansen of the Quilt Shop of Deland. Judy talked about how she got into the quilt business and how the fabric design process is done showing us her watercolors and the final fabric produced. Judy has designed for 4 fabric lines for Paintbrush Studio. This program was so informative and inspirational for anyone that quilts or hopes to design patterns or fabric.

Brown Bag Challenge Jill French and Cathy Brown Come One, Come All! Get your brown bag fabric at the May party! The Brown Bag Challenge begins with the exchange of fat quarters at the May party. RULES: Turn in a plain brown lunch bag containing three COORDINATED fat quarters. Don't mark on the bag or staple it closed. Do not staple or clip the bag closed. Before the end of the party select a brown bag with a number and give it a good home for the next six months. Complete a quilted item, including a label, using at least 75% of each fat quarter fabric on the front/outside of he item. Use as much of your own fabric as you like to complete the challenge. Contact Cathy Brown or Jill French immediately with some flimsy excuse if you misplace the fabric. Turn in your quilted item by Monday, November 7, either at a PQ meeting or at Country Quilts and Bears or by arrangement to either Cathy Brown or Jill French. The Big Reveal of all the items is the November PQ meeting during which they will be returned to their "Original Owners." Any PQer not completing or turning in their challenge project by the reveal night will permanently forfeit the project made with their own fat quarters to the PQer who did not receive a completed challenge project on the night of the party. Now is the time to dig through your stash or Go Shopping (!) for three COORDINATED fat quarters. (We will have extra brown paper bags at the May party if you don't have one.) Don t Miss the fun!! May Party Details Teri Roberts The signup for the May Dinner/Party was great. I ve got about 45 members signed up. However, we have a membership as of April 21 of 82 paid members. I know that a number of you weren t at the April meeting so if you didn t sign up or I haven t spoken to you could you please email me at 2roberts@tampabay.rr.com to say you are coming. This will help me know how many tables to setup and also the number of party favors to make. Your help in this matter will be appreciated. We are a little short on people signing up for meat and vegetables, but feel free to bring whatever you want if you didn t sign up for an item at the meeting. Where: Crossroads Baptist Church 2276 Curlew Road Palm Harbor, FL When: May 19, 2010 Time: 6:30 PM Things to bring to May dinner/party: Dish to pass or what you signed up to bring Churn Dash Blocks Name on blocks and your two churn dash blocks safety pinned together Bunny/teapot block or Bunny/teacup blocks name on each block Secret Pal gift Brown Bag Challenge - 3 fat quarters in small brown bag Show and Tell items Money or check to pay for items bid on and won at Silent Action Remember dinner starts at 6:30 PM so please come early so that you can preview silent items and bid on them.

Programs Community Service Lynn Wood Mary Ann Leonard and Carole Clark It s spring party time! I ll see you all at Crossroads Baptist Church for a night of good food, friends, and lots of fun. We ll be holding our Silent Auction during the party and I ve collected loads of great stuff from our members this year. Thank you all so much for your donations. If you have not given me your donations yet, please send me an email at johnwwoods@ij.net or phone me at 399-9407 to make arrangements for me to get them from you. I will need to have your items prior to the meeting so that I can group items accordingly and prepare bid sheets. In the event that you have to bring the item the night of the meeting, please email to let me know what you are donating and a brief description so that I can have a bid sheet prepared in advance. This is a big fundraiser for our guild so don t forget to bring cash or your checkbook to pay for your treasures. NEEDED!! Do you have this???? Barbara Leonard is wondering if anyone has the pattern for Block # 1 in "Les Fleurs du Jardin"? She bought the kit and it is missing the first pattern and it is out of print ( 1998). If you have this pattern, please contact Mary Ann Leonard. Thank you! Email: marlemom@tampabay.rr.com This is the quilt donated for the female veterans made by Jill French presented by Mary Ann Leonard to Sue Young at Christ the King Church from the PQ Guild. They were so excited to get such a beautiful quilt. The next one is Carole Clark and Mary Ann Leonard presenting a quilt to a local wounded veteran returning from Iraq and getting ready to return. He said it was the nicest quilt he had ever seen. His mom is also in the picture.

Free Quilt Pattern Bari J Bari J has created a lovely quilt using her new line of fabric. The dimensional border looks intriguing. Click here to get the free pattern: http://barij.typepad.com/my_weblog/2009/05/garden-teaparty-free-downloadable-quilt.html Retreat 2011 Sharon Kalinowski The PQ retreat is over and it is time to begin thinking about next year. All went well and the 28 ladies who attended had a good time sewing, visiting, sharing, eating and getting to know each other. Day Spring and the staff were all wonderful. Massages were great and the weather was perfect. The retreat would not have been possible without your committee members. Please remember to thank each of them, Paige Rapson, Janet Jensen, Pauline Mallory, Karen Pieczonka & Diane Friedman. It would not have been as much fun without all the wonderful sponsors who provided gifts for the door prizes. Please remember to thank them & support them. Without our quilt stores where would we go and what would we do!
