DCIM SIGNAL CONVERTERS FEATURES Optically isolated inputs Fused 24V AC power supply Field adjustable output Input & power LED indication Optional minimum position pot APPLICATIONS Phase cut to ma/v DC Scaling, inverting, sequencing High / low signal selection VFD's, Dampers, chiller reset Driving Freon & hot-gas-bypass valves DESCRIPTION The (Digital Controller Interface Module - Signal Conditioner) is used for signal conversion or conditioning of control signals. The will perform scaling, sequencing, inverting, and high/low signal selection. The inputs on the may be factory configured to accept; phase cut, 4 to 20mA, 0 to 10V DC or other custom signals. The output may be configured for 0 to 5V DC, 0 to 10V DC, 0 to 15V DC, 4 to 20mA or other custom signals. The 4 to 20mA and phase cut inputs are optically isolated, and the 0 to 10V DC input is NOT isolated. OPERATION The DCIM main board houses a 24V AC full-wave bridge rectifier, 20V DC regulated supply, two input sections, an amplifier section, and an output section. The two inputs can be factory configured as both optically isolated, or as one isolated and one non-isolated. The isolated inputs can be either 4 to 20mA or 10 to 90% phase cut, and the nonisolated input will accept either a 0 to 10V DC or 4 to 20mA signal. The 10 to 90% PC or 4 to 20mA signal is brought into an optical isolator, converted to a DC signal, and scaled. This scaled signal is fed to the amplifier section where zero and span adjustments are made. The output of the amplifier section drives the Millie-Amp or voltage output section. Load (Parker Hannifin's Hot-Gas-Bypass modulating solenoid valve). CALIBRATION ADJUSTMENTS Output adjustments are made with the zero and span potentiometers on the DCIM main module. - Zero adjustment, clockwise, decreases output level, and is made with 100% input signal applied. - Span adjustment, clockwise, increases signal differential, and is made with 0% input signal applied. * Only make adjustments of 50% at a time, of the difference between the current output and the desired output. **Note: For phase cut inputs, a 10% phase cut input signal represents the minimum signal, and a 90% phase cut input signal represents the maximum signal. This is due to non-linearities in the phase cut signal that occur between 0 to 10% and again from 90 to 100%. If you have a different application or need, please call 1-800-261-3602 and discuss your needs with our Sales Engineers.

APPLICATION 1 - VOLTAGE OR MA INPUT TO VOLTAGE OUTPUT SCALING The DCIM module is configured to accept either voltage and current signals. The standard 4-20mA input is optically isolated (terminals 7,8), the voltage input, (terminals 4,9) is not optically isolated. The DCIM uses a full-wave Bridge to rectify the 24V AC, thus the output common is floating in reference to the 24V AC line. If the 24V AC secondary is grounded and the device your feeding the signal to input common is grounded, an ISOLATION TRANSFORMER IS REQUIRED. Both zero and span adjustments allow for field calibration of output signal from 0 to 5 to 15V DC. APPLICATION 2 - VOLTAGE OR MA INPUT TO MA OUTPUT SCALING The DCIM module is configured as described in application 1 except the output is configured for a 4 to 20mA signal. If the 24V AC transformer's secondary is grounded and the device your feeding the signal to input common is grounded, an ISOLATION TRANSFORMER IS REQUIRED. Both zero and span adjustments allow for field calibration of output signal. APPLICATION 3 - VOLTAGE OR MA INPUT TO 300 MA OUTPUT FOR SOLENOID TYPE VALVES The DCIM module is configured to accept either voltage or current signals. The output has been configured for driving 24V DC solenoid valves requiring a modulating 0 to 300mA signal. This application was designed to drive Parkers's Freon Hot-Gas- Bypass modulating solenoid valve, but will also work for driving Maxitrol's 24V DC modulating gas valves. The 300mA output is terminals 10 and 11. Both zero and span adjustments allow for field calibration of output signal. If you have a different application or need, please call 1-800-261-3602 and discuss your needs with our Sales Engineers.

APPLICATION 4 - MA INPUT WITH EXTERNAL MINIMUM POSITION POTENTIOMETER The DCIM module can accept a 0 to 10V DC signal from an external minimum position potentiometer. The 5KΩ potentiometer connects to terminal 3 (+10V DC) and 4 (common), and the wiper of the potentiometer can be interlocked through a status relay or fed directly into terminal 9. The 0 to 10V DC signal represents 0 to 100% of the output signal. APPLICATION 5-135Ω POTENTIOMETER TO VOLTAGE / MA OUTPUT The DCIM module configured for a 0 to 135Ω, 2 wire input, has a 499Ω resistor (R8) on board between the 10V DC supply and terminal 3, and a 33.2Ω resistor (R11) on board between the common and input terminal 9. The 135Ω 2 wire potentiometer connects to terminal 3 (+10V DC), the wiper of the potentiometer connect to terminal 9. For a 3 wire pot connect both the common and wiper leg of the 135Ω pot to terminal 9. APPLICATION 6 - TWO MA SIGNAL H/L SELECT TO VOLTAGE OR MA OUTPUT The DCIM/MA-MA/MA-X has two isolated 4 to 20mA inputs and can be factory configured for either high or low signal selection. The ma signals are converted to DC voltages, then the highest or lowest signal is then amplified and or scaled for desired voltage or 4 to 20mA output. If you have a different application or need, please call 1-801-261-3600 and discuss your needs with our Sales Engineers.

APPLICATION 7 - PHASE CUT TO VOLTAGE CONVERSION The DCIM Module converts 10 TO 90% phase cut to 0-5V DC, 0-10V DC, or 0-15V DC. The phase cut input is optically isolated, (terminals 7,8), the voltage/ma input (terminals 4,9), is not optically isolated. The DCIM uses a full-wave bridge to rectify the 24V AC, thus the output common is floating in reference to the 24V AC line. If the 24V AC secondary is grounded and the device your feeding the signal to, it's input common is grounded, an ISOLATION TRANSFORMER IS REQUIRED. Both zero and span adjustments allow for field calibration of output signal. APPLICATION 8 - PHASE CUT TO MA CONVERSION The DCIM Module is configured as described in application 7 except the output is configured for a 4 to 20mA signal. If the 24V AC transformers secondary is grounded and the device your feeding the signal to, it's input is grounded, an ISOLATION TRANSFORMER IS REQUIRED. Both zero and span adjustments allow for field calibration. APPLICATION 9 - PHASE CUT TO 300 MA OUTPUT FOR SOLENOID TYPE VALVES The DCIM module is configured to accept either phase cut or voltage signals. If you have a different application or need, please call 1-801-261-3600 and discuss your needs with our Sales Engineers.

APPLICATION 10 - PHASE CUT INPUT WITH EXTERNAL MINIMUM POSITION POTENTIOMETER The DCIM module can be configured to receive both a 10 to 90% phase cut signal and a minimum position potentiometer or override signal (0 to 10V DC). The 5KΩ potentiometer connects to terminal 3 (+10V DC) and 4 (common), and the wiper of the potentiometer can be interlocked through a status relay of fed directly into terminal 9. The 0 to 10V DC signal represents 0 to 100% of the output signal. APPLICATION 11 - TWO PHASE SIGNALS H/L SELECT TO VOLTAGE OR MA OUTPUT The DCIM/PC-PC/VDC-X has two isolated phase cut inputs that are factory configured for either high or low signal selection. The phase cut signals are converted to DC voltages, then the highest or lowest signal is then selected and amplified to desired output. APPLICATION 12 - PHASE CUT INPUT WITH EXTERNAL HOA SWITCH & POTENTIOMETER The DCIM module is configured to receive both a 10 to 90% phase cut signal and an 0 to 10V DC signal from a minimum position potentiometer. The 5KΩ potentiometer connects to terminal 3 (+10V DC) and 4 (common), and the wiper and phase cut signals are interlocked through a hand off auto switch (wiper to terminal 9). The 0 to 10V DC signal represents 0 to 100% of the output signal. If you have a different application or need, please call 1-800-261-3602 and discuss your needs with our Sales Engineers.
