Newsletter August 22, 2018 ALAMO CHAPTER MONTHLY NEWSLETTER Remember the HVAC! Volunteerism! Ways to get involved: Give the chapter suggestions for topics, events, or activities. Help out with an event or activity Volunteer for an open position on the BOG If you are interested, email an officer or chair person on the BOG (see the chapter directory in this newsletter). President s Report Alamo ASHRAE, Welcome to the 2018-2019 ASHRAE season! We re starting off the year with a social event at the Alamo Beer Company on Thursday, August 23 rd. Please join us for a tour of the brewery and sample their different selections of beer; see the attached flyer for more details. Please invite a friend or colleague to come learn more about ASHRAE and the benefits of having an Alamo ASHRAE membership! Selecting monthly meeting topics and speakers that will prove beneficial to the members is a perennial challenge that all ASHRAE chapters face. This year, we are focusing on the basics of HVAC design in the hopes that the topics will not only appeal to those new to design, but also to those who have been around a while and either need a refresher or want to join in on the discussions and share their experiences. Chelsea Moussouni and Frank Painter have done a great job lining up topics and speakers for the year ahead. A list of those topics and dates will be available at the kick- ASHRAE Alamo! 1 of! 6

Newsletter August 22, 2018 off meeting. Come and make it! Upcoming events: Alamo ASHRAE kickoff Social, Wednesday August 23th 4-7PM UTSA Mechanical Engineering Seminar Series - Urban Science and Engineering to Transform Cities (see flyer for details), Friday September 7th 11-12PM Finding a suitable meeting location is another challenge that we ve faced for this coming year. While most comments about the DoubleTree have been favorable, the common complaint is that the A/V setup needs improvement. So, starting in October, we ll be meeting at the North Park Alamo Drafthouse; we shouldn t have any A/V problems there! We look forward to a great year! As always, your comments, suggestions, and especially your help are greatly appreciated! Please contact a member of the Board of, an Officer, or a person if you would like to get involved! Regards, Rick McHugh, P.E. ASHRAE Alamo! 2 of! 6
