General Guidelines All user installed wiring must meet NEC or local codes Wiring from the transformer or to the light strips should be 18-2 solid or stranded low voltage wire. (Use caution when using stranded wire that the strands are not frayed causing a short between the two wires) Transformer wattage should be determined based on the amount of wattage required for the light strips. See chart on page 2 Do not exceed 30 of wire between the transformer and the light strip Transformers should be mounted in an accessible well ventilated area. (Do not locate the transformer inside of the sauna room) Switching of the transformer must be done on the primary side of the transformer unless you are using the Task LED Wireless Switch, available separately. Important Installation Information Light strip length cannot be altered in the field; the light strips come in two lengths and should be ordered accordingly for length desired. Light strips must be connected to the approved low voltage transformer. Hooking light strips to any power source other than the approved transformers can result in damage to the light strip. Your heater control may or may not be compatible with the operation of your light strip. Refer to chart on page 4 for compatibility 08/17/16 1 PN# 4215-120

Transformer wattage is based on the information below. Strip Length Required Wattage Part Number 30 Long 5 Watts 3160-033 48 Long 8 Watts 3160-034 Calculating wattage needs--use the chart below fill in your strip quantities and calculate. Strip Length Quantity Required Wattage Total Wattage 30 Long x 5 = 48 Long x 8 = Choose the transformer based on the total wattage of both strip lengths combined. Transformer Wattage Part Number 24 Watt LED Driver 3164-365 60 Watt LED Driver 3164-368 75 Watt LED Driver 3164-369 Installing LED Light Strips Note: Standard led light strip kits include the light strips and specified transformer. LED light strips already attached to backrests or light valances will vary slightly on the installation. Bending, bowing or twisting of the light strip will damage the strip circuits. LED light strips should be mounted on a flat surface only Do not mount in areas with direct or indirect water contact Use the supplied mounting screws to install the light strip to the surface Wiring LED Light Strips Note: The light strip is polarity sensitive. If wires are not connected properly (+ to red & - to black) the light strip will not work. Wiring for the light strip should be DC voltage to the Red and ground to the Black on the end of the light strip. 08/17/16 2 PN# 4215-120

Wires should be cleanly stripped insertion in the connection on the light strip. It is not necessary to push down on the detent locking tabs of the terminal block. Simply push wires into the socket fully to lock into place. Note: The illustration to the right shows red and black wires; your typical transformer wires are both black - one being traced for identification. In the event you add to that transformer wire for added length you may choose to use wire with red and black for easy identification. When inserting the wires into the socket be sure that there are no loose strands from one wire coming in contact with the opposite wire. This will cause a short and the lights will not operate. When connecting multiple LED light strip in the same room you can use the same process as above. Run two wires from the output end of the first light strip and connect to the input of the next light strip, continue as needed. 08/17/16 3 PN# 4215-120

The image on page 3 shows a typical transformer, sizes may vary; the black wire with the white tracer is the positive lead. If the transformer is connected directly to the light strip the black wire with the white tracer should hook up to the Red To remove wires from the light strip it will be necessary to push down on the locking detent to release the wires; while depressing pull back on the wire. If it is necessary to use two transformers in the lighting circuit to cover the wattage requirements, simple hook the second transformer into the circuit. You can also hook both transformers into the same input connector of the first LED light strip. Installations requiring 60 or 75 watt transformers (shown below) should be hard wired into the lighting circuit. The transformer must be mounted outside of the sauna room using two screws and the molded mount flange. The input side of the transformer is marked AC IN. The input side of the transformer can be wired with 120 VAC. This will be the side of the transformer that should be switched, either through the heater light circuit (if equipped) or an external light switch. o The input wires should be connected: Line Brown, Neutral Blue, and Ground Green/Yellow. 08/17/16 4 PN# 4215-120

The output side of the transformer is marked DC OUT. The output should be wired to the LED strip light circuit. o The output wires should be connected: Red - & Black - Controlling LED Light Strips with Heater Control Caution: No heater or control can be wired directly to the LED light strip; it is necessary to wire it using the approved light strip transformer. Use the chart below to determine whether your heater control can be wired in a manner to control the LED light strips. Heater/Control Model Yes No Junior or Viki w/saunalogic Saunatonttu w/remote Fonda/Vena w/t1 * Fonda/Vena B Designer w/t1 * Designer B SO-D ** Designer Digital Pikutonttu w/digi ** Designer SC *** SO-SC *** Octa-Pro w/digi ** Octa-Pro w/sc *** Designer w/trend **** * Heaters using a T1 controller have a terminal block in the heater wiring compartment labeled HNNH. The installer must run a separate 120 volt light circuit from power panel to the heater; hook the 120 volt line to left H and the neutral into left N. Then run the switched light circuit from right N and right H to an outlet receptacle. The LED strip light transformers should be plugged into this outlet receptacle. The T1 control will now be able switch this outlet receptacle on/off controlling the light strips. **Heaters systems using a Digi I, II or VII controller interface with a circuit board in the heater or in the contactor box (varies between heater models). The circuit board has a wire attached to it labeled Light. This wire is supplied 120 volts from the circuit board when the light button on the Digi control is turned ON. The installer needs to run a light 08/17/16 5 PN# 4215-120

circuit from this wire marked Light and a neutral to an outlet receptacle. The LED strip light transformers should be plugged into this outlet receptacle. The Digi control will now be able switch this outlet receptacle on/off controlling the light strips. Note: If the total of the light strips is more than 32 watts, it would be best to use an external light switch wired to the outlet receptacle. ***Heaters using the SC Control panels have a mechanical light switch right on the control panel. The installer must wire a separate light circuit to the SC control panel. Hook the 120 volt line to wire #1 on the control panel light switch. Split the neutral wire hooking it up to the wire from the light switch labeled N. Now run a switched light circuit from the split neutral and a wire connected to #2 on the light switch out to an outlet receptacle. The LED strip light transformers should be plugged into this outlet receptacle. The SC control will now be able switch this outlet receptacle on/off controlling the light strips. ****Heaters using a Trend controller have a terminal block in the heater wiring compartment labeled NNH. Hook neutral into left N. Then run the switched light circuit from right N and H to an outlet receptacle. The LED strip light transformers should be plugged into this outlet receptacle. The Trend control will now be able switch this outlet receptacle on/off controlling the light strips. Heaters listed on page 4 that are not compatible cannot control the LED light strips, and no attempt should be made to try and make them compatible. In this situation the installer has two options. 1. The installers can wire in a 120 volt light switch and use this switch to control an outlet receptacle with the LED light strips plugged into them. 2. The installers can purchase the optional LED Dimmer Switch a. The transformers would then be plugged in to a live outlet receptacle and the dimmer switch could be added into the system to control the lights. b. This dimmer switch is wireless and requires minimal installation. 08/17/16 6 PN# 4215-120
