www.birdrf.com In-Building Coverage

In-Building Coverage For public safety agencies, reliable radio coverage is essential throughout a broad array of public safety jurisdictions, including coverage on the street, in buildings, and in tunnels. The general public often experiences similar needs from the commercial wireless systems they are using. Increasingly, in-building and in-tunnel communications are of key concerns for both public safety agencies and wireless providers since providing reliable coverage in those environments is particularly challenging. Over the past several years, some jurisdictions have enacted ordinances requiring minimum levels of coverage for public safety communications within new buildings. In addition, the International Code Council (ICC) and the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) are currently pursuing the adoption of national-level model codes and standards to help ensure that improved in-building coverage is addressed on a nationwide basis. RF SIGNAL BOOSTERS (also referred to as RF REPEATERS AND BI- DIRECTIONAL AMPLIFIERS) Bird Signal Boosters provide reliable coverage in disadvantaged RF locations to satisfy the needs of the First Responders, Public Safety/Governmental agencies and Private System Users. There are two different classes of Signal Boosters: Class A and Class B. Class A (Channelized) will only amplify those discrete channels intended to be retransmitted. - The Bird SBIII Series Signal Boosters are Class A. Class B (Broadband) will amplify all signals within the designated pass-band. - The Bird SBI and SBII Series Signal Boosters are Class B. - The Bird SBIII can also be configured as a Class B Signal Booster. In-Building Coverage Bird Technologies offers different Signal Booster families to meet the unique needs of the different industries. VHF Legacy - Accommodates most Public Safety and commercial applications in the 132-174 MHz range. SBI - Exceptional balance of performance and value for extended coverage of radio communications networks. Covers full Public Safety band in accordance with latest FCC configuration code. Models are available for indoor and outdoor applications. SBII - Considered the industry standard for Mission Critical LMR / Public Safety Signal Boosters. It covers UHF, 700/800/900 MHz frequencies and is part of the *RescueLine product family. SBIII - Offers programmable filter flexibility design to master the challenges of a changing RF environment. It covers 700/800MHz. The 700/800 Digital Booster model is also part of the *RescueLine product family. *RescueLine Signal Boosters - Complies with New International Fire Code and National Fire Protection Association (IFC/NFPA) Standards. HYBRID DIRECTIONAL COUPLERS Used for power division and signal distribution applications. The broad array of splits facilitates balanced signal distribution in the most comprehensive systems. Additionally, the Tri-Band products allow multi-band signal distribution via a single transmission line where multi-agency communication systems are required. They largely eliminate the near-far problem and maximize the cost-efficiency of the signal boosters. Bi-directional nature of the couplers allows them to be used for two-way communications with minimal loss above the desired coupling value. CROSSBAND COUPLERS Allow multiband operation of tower transmission lines, reducing cost and tower loading. They are for transmit or receive operations with DC pass-thru models for tower mount Rx systems. Cascading certain models will allow three frequency bands to use one transmission line. POWER DIVIDERS Hybrid designs are characterized by port-to-port isolation of 20 db or more and are typically used in receiver multicoupler or low power signal booster applications. Stripline splitters have no port-to-port isolation and are most typically used to feed transmitter power to multiple antennas for phased arrays or similar applications. SAMPLERS Signal Samplers are non-directional taps for sampling RF signals from a main transmission line, with minimal effect to the power level of the signals on the main line. 1-866-695-4569 www.birdrf.com 11

VHF Legacy Signal Booster VHF Legacy Signal Booster VHF Legacy Signal Booster accommodates most Public Safety and commercial applications in the 132-174 MHz range. Taking a modular approach, configured systems are easily accommodated by the proper selection of standard amplifier and filter blocks to meet the requirement. Output Level Control (OLC) effectively reduces the gain when input signal levels become too great. This standard feature insures that the signal booster remains linear and therefore maintains its certified output characteristics. Unique filter solutions enable use of these signal boosters in harsh RF environments. The models listed provide one way communications. Two-way configurations are available upon request. Hybrid Directional Couplers Hybrid Directional Couplers for power division and signal distribution applications. Power Divider Power dividers are grouped into Hybrid/Wilkensen and Stripline/ coaxial designs. Hybrid designs are characterized by port-to-port isolation of 20 db or more and are typically used in receiver multicoupler or low power signal booster applications. Stripline splitters have no port-to-port isolation and are most typically used to feed transmitter power to multiple antennas for phased arrays or similar applications. The models below are characterized by low-loss above the splitting loss and wide bandwidths. N connectors are standard. RF Signal Samplers RF Signal Samplers Signal Samplers are non-directional taps for sampling RF signals from a main transmission line, with minimal effect to the power level of the signals on the main line. The sampled port can be connected to a Spectrum Analyzer for analysis and measurement, or connected to a low gain, distribution antenna in Signal Boosters systems to augment communications in buildings and tunnels. We offer a broad range of sampling levels to accommodate a wide variety of applications.
