Submissin Guidance The Editrial Bard is keen t receive submissins frm students, past and present, f the University f Aberdeen. Overview The purpse f the ASLR is t shwcase the wrk f the students f Aberdeen, highlighting the many areas f law which are taught and researched at this university. As such, we welcme submissins n any area f law. Several types f articles will be cnsidered: Case Ntes (500 t 1,500 wrds n a recent judicial develpment) Bk Reviews (500 t 1,500 wrds n a recent publicatin) Essays and Shrt Articles (1,500 t 4,000 wrds) Full Research Papers (4,000 t 10,000 wrds) All the limits specified abve include ftntes. Submissins are welcme frm students at all stages, frm first year undergraduate t pstgraduate PhD level. Students may submit a piece f wrk which has been written as part f their degree, r may write smething specifically fr the ASLR. Articles must prvide a critical analysis f a particular area f law, publicatin r judicial decisin. Cmment shuld be riginal, relevant and aim t make an interesting cntributin t the academic debate. Every piece f wrk is reviewed annymusly by the student Editrial Bard, befre being sent fr peer-review. Submissins may be accepted utright, accepted subject t mdificatin, r rejected. Cnstructive cmments will be sent t the authr. Published articles will be cmpiled in an annual issue which will be available n HeinOnline and in UK law libraries. All submissins must cnfrm t the ASLR Huse Style (see next page f this dcument) and must be accmpanied by a title page (see third page f this dcument) as well as by a signed declaratin f riginality (see page fur f this dcument; a Wrd versin can be fund n the ASLR website). Finally, all submissins (including the title page, declaratin f riginality and manuscript) must be sent t aslr@abdn.ac.uk under the subject 'Submissin fr ASLR by 15 September f every year.

Title Page In additin t their manuscripts and declaratin f riginality, authrs shuld als attach a dcument entitled Title Page which wuld include the fllwing: Title: Cncise and infrmative - n mre than 150 characters. Abstract: A cncise and factual abstract is required (up t 200 wrds). The abstract shuld state briefly the purpse f the research and majr cnclusins. An abstract is ften presented separately frm the article, s it must be able t stand alne. Fr this reasn, references shuld be avided, but if essential, then cite the authr(s) and year(s). Als, nn-standard r uncmmn abbreviatins shuld be avided, but if essential they must be defined at their first mentin in the abstract itself. Keywrds: Immediately after the abstract, prvide a maximum f six keywrds, using British spelling and aviding general and plural terms and multiple cncepts (avid, fr example, 'and', 'f'). Using keywrds is a vital part f abstract writing, because f the practice f retrieving infrmatin electrnically: keywrds act as the search term. Use keywrds that are specific, and that reflect what is essential abut the paper. Authr names and cllabratins: Use capital letters fr surnames t avid ambiguities. Als, acknwledge any cllabratin with external institutins. Histry f the paper: Indicate whether the paper was riginally drafted as an assignment, dissertatin r PG Research, r if it was written directly fr publicatin.
