A split barrel sampler can be used with the Overshot Wireline System. If no samples are required, the pilot bit extension assembly can be installed on the latching assembly replacing the bearing assembly and sampler, allowing for quick removal of the center pilot bit assembly while straight auger drilling. BEARING ASSEMBLY In applications such as deep, underwater drilling, it may be necessary to substitute the Overshot Wireline System for the Drill Rod System. The hollow stem augers are drilled in the normal way with the sample barrel being held in place by drill rods attached to a bearing in the drive cap.
