Saturday Feb. 06: Intro to PMC3 10:30-4:30pm Class: $55 Instructor: Carrie Desimone Kit: $20 You ll learn how to handle and care for your precious metal clay (PMC3), as well as design earrings and pendants throughout the process. You will discover the joys of torch firing and kiln firing in this class, in addition to polishing your pieces with or without antiquing. Best part? Sunday Feb. 07: Rings PMC3 11-5pm Class: $55 Instructor: Carrie Desimone Level: Intermediate Required: Intro to PMC3 After constructing a wide band you ll learn how to use a PMC3 syringe to place Cubic Zirconia (CZ) into your setting which the clay version of the tube settings. This is a chance to fashion a truly unique piece of jewelry or bring in a cherished family heirloom to revitalize through pearl restringing and knotting. Sanding, polishing and patina techniques will be covered and you will leave with a beautiful, finished cuff bracelet. All tools needed will be provided by the instructor. Materials will be available for purchase or you may bring your own: 10, 12 or 14 g square copper or square sterling silver wire. Approximate materials cost: copper $5.00, sterling silver $40.00. Bring lunch Saturday Feb. 13: Soldering-Part 1 10-6pm Class: $55 Learn the basics of torch soldering for jewelry making. We ll start with simple seams and sweat soldering. You can expect to create a simple mixed metal pendant and stacking rings in this class and go home with knowledge to practice and grow your soldering skills at home. All tools needed will be available for your use or you may bring your own if desired. The following materials will also be available for purchase to use during class or you may bring your own: scrap copper sheet, sterling silver wire, sterling silver sheet. Bring snack. Sunday Feb. 14: Soldering-Part II 10-5pm Class: $55 Required Soldering 1 Learn to create a bezel setting for a cabochon stone, finish polishing using a flexshaft tool, patina and/or texturing your setting. All tools needed will be available for your use but you may bring your own if desired. The following materials will also be available for purchase during class or you may bring your own: small cabochon, fine silver bezel wire, sterling silver sheet, sterling silver wire. Bring snack. 2
Sunday Feb. 14: Bead Crochet Necklace 12:30-3:30pm Class: $30 Instructor: Carrie Desimone Learn to crochet these fun and fabulous beaded necklaces to accent any wardrobe style, from casual to formal! Using a simple crochet stitch, you will be able to add pearls, beads and chips to create an exciting piece of art to wear! Monday Feb. 15: Polishing & Finishing Techniques & Flex Shaft 10-4pm Class: $45 Sandy will discuss and demonstrate correct use of the many different tools and polishing compounds used to create a professional finish to your metal jewelry, be it silver, PMC or other common metals. Learn how to effectively remove excess solder, deep and light surface scratches, fire scale removal, and how to apply your final treatment, whether it be a high shine, matte finish, or brushed surface finish. Hand finishing vs machine finishing, files, sandpaper, grinding tools, polishing tools and compounds will be covered. Bring any unfinished pieces you have or pieces you d like to improve by giving them a better polishing treatment and learn how to make your pieces shine! If you have a Flex Shaft bring it also. The first half of the class time is spent in lecture and demonstration. The latter half will include time to work on polishing your own projects. Friday Feb. 19: Electro-Etching Metal 11-4pm Kit Fee: $25 Class: $40 Instructor: Christine Born Learn to etch patterns into 20g copper metal sheet using eco-friendly electro-etching techniques no harsh chemicals. Once circles are punched out, paint patinas can be used to color your design, and crystals can be added to make it pop! Stamp designs will be available for your use. Saturday Feb. 20: PMC3 Linked 10:30-4:30 Class: $55 Instructor: Carrie Desimone Required: Intro to PMC3 You ll design and make your own fine silver linked bracelet. In this class you will also learn how to design a clasp and use fine silver wire with your clasp that will fire with your clay. Time allowing, I ll also show you how to build a chain link for bracelets or necklaces. This process takes too long to complete in class, but you can take it home and finish it there. It is a very exciting process to learn. Bring your kit with you including slip, clay and your tools. I will have some tools, textures, shapes to share, but you ll want your own clay and silver supplies and basic tools. Saturday Feb. 20: Kumihimo 11-3pm Class: $30 Instructor: Christine Born Create a stunning bracelets through the intricate Japanese braiding technique, called Kumihimo! Saturday Feb.27: European 4 in 1 12-3:30pm Class: $30 Level: Intermediate The European 4-in-1 is an ancient weave first used to make protective armor for medieval warriors. This weave drapes beautifully on the body, offering an ornate, eye-catching accessory sure to complement any outfit. Students will learn to make the standard bracelet as well as the technique for expanding the width of the weave. Sunday Feb. 28: PMC3 Two Sided Dimensional Pendant 11-5pm Class: $55 Instructor: Carrie Desimone Required: Intro to PMC3 You ll learn how to use the PMC Syringe to create a dimensional design on your two sided pendant. You ll be challenged to set a CZ into your design so that it shows on both sides (optional of course). We will focus on 2 sided designs, finishing your pendant so you ll enjoy wearing it both directions, building your skills using the syringe and setting a two sided CZ. Bring your kit from the Intro Class with you. Slip, PMC3, PMC3 Syringe, CZs not included, but available in class for purchase. Limit students. 4 Seed Beaders (Beginners) Class: $25-35 Constance Mitro-Johnson is available to teach beginners all of the basic stitches such as peyote, herringbone (Ndebele), right angle weave, brick, etc. You will make samplers of the stitches you would like to learn. ***10% discount will be given on the day of class for class supplies. This discount does not apply to consignment pieces, gift cards or classes or any PMC3 products. Out of respect for classmates, please do not wear any fragrances when attending class. Classes will only be held if there are 2 or more people attending.
