About Spain Valencia is the third-largest city in Spain after Madrid and Barcelona, with around 800,000 inhabitants in the administrative centre. Beside the Cathedral is the Gothic Basilica of the Virgin (Basílica De La Mare de Déu dels Desamparats). The 15th-century Serrans and Quart towers are part of what was once the wall surrounding the city.
