Procedure for: Classic, Super 88, P-600/M-28, & 2200/910 Wheel replacement Tools Needed: Phillips Screwdriver 5/64, 5/32, & 1/16 Allen wrenches Hand press or Hammer Small diameter bolt at least 1 long Washers (Some big washers for removing the pin) Step: 1 Remove the Square Shaft holding the Pinch Wheel assembly on the machine. NOTE: If you have a Super 88 cutter, the pinch wheel assemblies are removable. Removing the square shaft is not neccessary. Skip ahead to Step: 2. 1) Remove the right and left side covers of the machine. There are two (2) silver phillips screws attaching the rubber feet to the bottom, and two (2) black phillips screws holding each cover to the end plates in front, and back. 2) On the right side of the machine (Keypad side), locate the pinch wheel lever and remove the square shaft bolt (See Fig. 2). Loosen the setscrew located on the back side of the lever (Do not remove). Square Shaft setscrew (5/64 HEX Screw) Square Shaft bolt (5/32 HEX Bolt) Pinch Wheel Lever Fig. 2 - Machine with right side cover removed showing the pinch Wheel lever assembly 2

3) On the left side of the machine, remove the 5/32 HEX bolt on the other end of the square shaft. 4) In the center of the cutter, loosen the 1/16 HEX screw holding the square shaft in the middle. 5) Slide the square shaft out the left side of the machine enough to slide the pinch wheel assemblies off the square shaft. Step: 2 - Removing the wheel from the pinch wheel assembly. 1) Place the pinch wheel assembly on a solid metal surface with the big washers under the right side of the pinch wheel assembly. Make sure the pin can go through the holes in the washers. (See Fig. 3). Fig. 3 - Wheel pin removal. NOTE: Be sure you remove the pin from the side shown. 2) With a flat nail, or small diameter bolt, place on the wheel shaft, and pound the pin out using a hammer or hand press. There is only one direction the pin will come out, so make sure you have the wheel assembly positioned as shown in Fig. 3. 3

Step: 3 - Installing the new wheel 1) The washers will be installed on either side of the wheel (See Fig. 4). Wheel Washer Washer Wheel Pin Fig. 4 - Place washers on either side of the wheel before inserting the pin 2) Follow the installation instructions in reverse order to put the pinch wheel assembly back on the machine. 3) When tightening the setscrew on the back side of the pinch wheel lever, be sure not to over tighten. Over tightening can cause a crack in the lever housing, and will effect tracking of the machine. 4) If a problem should arise, or you are stuck on a procedure, contact ioline Tech Support. Procedure for: Smartrac Signcutter wheel replacement (Assembly without a Wheel Window) No Wheel Window Tools Needed: Phillips screwdriver Small flat head screwdriver 9/64 Allen Wrench Step: 1 - Removing the pinch wheel assembly from the machine. 1) Unplug, and remove the machine from the stand (if you have one). Place on a flat surface with the pinch wheels down. 2) Remove the left side cover of the machine. There are two (2) black phillips screws holding the cover to the left end plate in front, and back. 3) To remove the pinch wheel assembly, the left end plate must be removed. To do this, start by loosening the Y axis belt. With a 9/64 hex wrench loosen the belt tensioner on the left side of the machine. See fig. 5 Fig. 5 - Belt tensioner assembly 5

4) Remove the carriage cover unscrewing the two (2) phillips screws. One is on the bottom left side, and the other is on the front above where the blade holder is inserted. 5) Unclip the belt T connectors on each side of the carriage assembly. Pull the left side of the belt through the hole in the left end plate, and let it dangle. 6) Remove the carriage assembly by pushing down on the top, and pulling the bottom wheels toward you. Unclip the white ribbon cable that plugs into the carriage by gently pulling it out of the socket. Set the carriage aside for later. 7) Remove the white ribbon cable from the machine by gently pulling it off the traverse extrusion (Black rail that holds the carriage assembly). The ribbon cable is attached to the traverse by a piece of double stick tape. When it s free of the tape, pull the ribbon cable through the slotted hole in the left end plate. 8) Now it s time to start removing the left end plate of the machine. Start by taking out the screws that hold the body to the machine. Remove all but one screw for the traverse, and one for the platen. See Fig. 6 Traverse Screws Platen (Body) Screws Fig. 6 - Left end plate 6

9) Remove the spring clip and plastic washer holding the square shaft on the left end plate. Hold the body while removing the last screw. Do the same for the traverse extrusion. 10) With the left end plate removed, lift the traverse extrusion up, and slide the pinch wheels off of the machine. See Fig. 7 Pinch Wheel Assembly Fig. 7 - Left end plate removed Step: 2 - Replacing the wheel on the pinch wheel assembly 1) With a small flat head screwdriver, push the wheel pin out of the pinch wheel assembly. See Fig. 8 Flat head screwdriver Wheel pin windows Fig. 8 - Removing the wheel pin with a flat head screwdriver. 7

2) Once the wheel and pin are out, remove the wheel and replace with the new one. Make sure you put the washers on either side of the wheel before reinserting. See Fig. 9 Fig. 9 - Make sure you put the washers on before installing. 3) Snap the wheel, pin, and washers into the pinch wheel assembly. See Fig 10. Fig. 10 - Snap the wheel in place. 4) Re-install the pinch wheel assembly back onto the machine by following the removal instruction in reverse order. If problems should arise contact Ioline Tech Support. 8

Procedure for: Smartrac Signcutter wheel replacement (Assembly with a Wheel Window) Wheel Window Tools Needed: Small flat head screwdriver Step: 1 - Removing the wheel from the pinch wheel assembly. 1) Since you don t have to remove the pinch wheel assembly from the machine, this type of wheel replacement is a snap. Start by putting the small flat head screwdriver between the top of the wheel, and the body of the assembly. This space is the Wheel Window. See Fig. 11 Fig. 11 - Placement of the flat head screwdriver on the wheel for removal. 9

2) Push down on the screwdriver handle to pop the wheel out from the pinch wheel assembly. You will have to push down on the back Wings of the pinch wheel assembly to raise the wheel housing high enough to pop the wheel out. See Fig 12. Fig. 12 - Removing the wheel from the assembly 3) Once the wheel and pin are out, remove the wheel and replace with the new one. Make sure you put the washers on either side of the wheel before reinserting. See Fig. 13 Fig. 13 - Make sure you put the washers on before installing. 10

3) Raise the wheel housing again, and place the wheel into place. Snap the wheel, pin, and washers into the pinch wheel assembly. See Fig 14. Fig. 14 - Snap the wheel in place. 4) Re-install the pinch wheel assembly back onto the machine by following the removal instruction in reverse order.
