Breakthrough to your Success! The only limit to your impact is your imagination and commitment Tony Robbins True? Or do you have constraints that limit you, family, job, health? Or are these limits more about fear, comfort or lack of clarity? Is it more a case of when all is said and done, more has often been said than done. Is that what you re guilty of? Devouring the information but fearing implementation? F.E.A.R. False Evidence that Appears Real Believe it or not your fears are not unique, sorry to disappoint! The fact is, that whether a professional or a hobbyist, singers around the world have common fears.
Here are the top ten fears I discovered: 1. The not feeling good enough feeling That s an excuse not to get out of our comfort zone. If you are genuinely not good at something (base that on reality!) you can train, learn or practice. This is a call to work on your-self. Remember it s okay to fail just keep learning, keep growing and keep getting better. 2. Comparisons Don t be addicted to approval as the only thing you have responsibility for is to walk your own journey. Comparisons can be another excuse to remain stuck in your comfort zone. Remember it s your life, your path, your dreams and your goals. 3. Rationalising Rationalising can be just another excuse for a negative mind-set. We know there are real life constraints but you need to lose the fear of moving out of your comfort zone before you move out of it. 4. The myth of certainty If want full certainty before taking the next step then I can guarantee they will remain stuck, there are no certainties. Yes we can make plans but there are detours, there are blocks, there are boundaries, people who get in our way. You have to challenge yourself and no one else is here to do that but you.
5. Your first step is right under your nose, right now. What can you do right now that can move you from where you are to where you want to be? The first step is often right under your nose. What have you been meaning to get around to? You may need to budget, save or plan but you can do it if you are really serious about moving out of your comfort zone. 6. Enjoy the storms as well as the rainbows. You spend longer on the journey than at the destination so appreciate it fully. When you have a victory it s momentary, saviour it and use it to give you the courage and motivation to continue forward but harness the exhilaration of the journey too. Create some energy for what you are doing motion creates emotion. 7. It always comes with a price We walk our journey step by step, moment by moment by the decision to do so is crucial. There may be things that you need to give up to take those steps and again there is no certainty in what you will get in return. Remember you don t need to have all the knowledge and resources yourself, build your support network of people that do have that knowledge and information. 8. I ll go if you go Surround yourself by other people who are following their dream. Be inspired by people who are growing and challenging themselves. Read biographies of people who have overcome adversity to achieve what
they wanted. Surrounding yourself with the right people and be one of the many pushing through your comfort zone. 9. Make a plan Make a plan, break it down and give it a realistic timeline. Be clear about what you actually want to achieve, write it down and give it clarity. What does success actually mean to me? What does it mean to be my real self as a singer? What does it mean for me to be authentic? 10. Faith is an act You can t just learn the theory, you have to start doing, without action it all remains just theory. Remember that whatever you invest in yourself will never be a waste, even if it doesn t take you where you d planned, because there is no certainty. Remember there will be sacrifices on the way to achieving your dream so enjoy the journey because it is the pursuit of your dreams and goals that actually makes you happy not the certainty of getting there.
