New Product Information Minolta Dimâge Scan Multi High-Speed Multiple-Format Film Scanner MINOLTA is pleased to introduce the Dimâge Scan Multi; a new film scanner for a variety of film formats, including 35mm and medium-format film. The Dimâge Scan Multi comes complete with user-friendly driver software, a SCSI cable, and three film holders. Its multiple-format and volume scanning capabilities combined with high-quality, speedy output make the Dimâge Scan Multi an ideal scanner for professional use in photographic, design, printing, and medical fields. The new film scanner s multiple format scanning capability includes popular 35mm, 16mm, medium format, and sleeved Advanced Photo System film. With the optional adapter, Advanced Photo System film in the cassette can also be used. Furthermore, the scanner accepts transmission electron microscope film. The scanner features Minolta s fast, high-tech color-processing system and, in a short scan time, produces images with more than 10,000,000 pixels (35mm). The 12-bit A/D converter produces an amazingly clear and detailed image with up to 4,096 gradations. Moreover, this new film scanner can continuously read images from the included film holders. Used with the optional Slide Feeder SC-100 or APS Adapter AD-100, images are directly scanned from an Advanced Photo System cassette or a large volume of slide mounts. Finally, the Dimâge Scan Multi promises ease of use with an excellent user interface and autofocus capabilities. The Job function offers simple film scanning options for resolution and size settings. The Job function further enables users to create a job, save it, and load it on demand. The Dimâge Scan Multi is Minolta s crystallization of leading edge digital technology. The multiple film-type handling capability, time-saving scanning, quality image, and highly functional software makes the Dimâge Scan Multi a film scanner that increases user s productivity.
2 Dimâge Scan Multi - Main Features Multi-Format Scanning Capability for Various Fields Three included film holders make the Dimâge Scan Multi a versatile film scanner that can handle virtually all types of film. Usable film types include 35mm (positive and negative) and medium format film. Especially, medium format film is commonly used in the commercial photography, designing, and publishing industries, where the drum scanners have been the main player. The handy Dimâge Scan Multi will maximize the users productivity in a way drum scanners can not. In addition, 16mm and TEM* film from medical labs can be used. The optional Slide Mount Holder SH-M2 can directly acquire specimen images from a microscope slide. Furthermore, the optional APS Adapter AD-100 enables users to scan images from Advanced Photo System film cartridges. *TEM: Transmission Electron Microscope High Quality Images High Input Resolution with 12-bit A/D Conversion This new film scanner offers a maximum input resolution of 2,820 dpi for 35mm, Advanced Photo System, and 16mm film. 1,128 dpi is the resolution provided for medium format film, a quality fine enough for common A4 300 dpi output. In addition, it features 12-bit per channel A/D conversion to achieve 4,096 gradations to provide high image quality that is four times finer than our conventional film scanner. Furthermore, in addition to conventional 24-bit output (8 bits per R/G/B), the utility software also permits 48-bit output (16 bits per R/G/B) when saved in the TIFF 48 file format. The Dimâge Scan Multi realizes a natural color reproduction, maximizing the advantage of silver halide film. For individual or institutional applications, the Dimâge Scan Multi produces images with smooth, fine detail. Diverse Focusing Ability - Autofocus, Point AF, and Manual Focus The Dimâge Scan Multi automatically uses the center of the image to determine focus. Point AF allows autofocus to be used on a desired area of the image, while Manual Focus can be used to slightly defocus to reduce the appearance of grain. more
3 High Productivity - High-Speed, Continuous Scanning The Dimâge Scan Multi realizes high-speed scanning without sacrificing image quality. Minolta s technology has brought medium format film scanning speed to the level of 35mm film scanning. The secret that lies behind the achievement is Minolta s unique IC, developed for scanners. Continuous scanning of up to 6 sleeved-film frames and 4 mounted-film frames is possible with the included film holders. Advanced Photo System film cassettes with up to 40 frames can be scanned with the optional APS adapter AD-100. Continuous scanning of mounted film further goes up to a level of 50 frames if the optional slide feeder SC-100 is used. Simple Operation Job Function Images of diverse output quality and size can be effortlessly accessed through the user-friendly driver software. The Job function offers quick and easy selection of size and resolution scan settings that match the user s output device. In addition, users can create and save their own Job setting so they can call out the setting whenever desired. Excellent User Interface The Dimâge Scan Multi driver software provides four windows that are clearly cut by purpose. In the windows, buttons are arranged according to frequency of use. The well considered window configurations and button layout assure smooth scanning procedure. end
