It s all in the detail Ask for a care kit to make your life easier, we ve put together some essential care information and equipment like an abrasive pad to tackle surface scratches, a microfibre cloth, and a liquid cleaner to build up a protective finish. Just ask your supplier when you re ordering Prevent scratches by using a chopping board, but if your knife slips don t panic. Shallow scratches can be tackled using the abrasive pad that s supplied with the care kit. Cleaning is simple. You won t need anything more than a clean cloth and dish detergent to keep your Pietra surface looking shiny. Rinse with cold water and dry for the best result. Little marks can be addressed with a mild abrasive cleaner (not the scouring pad or powder). You ll find complete cleaning information in the booklet that comes with the care kit. Stain removal is unlikely to be a problem, since Pietra s non-porous nature makes it pretty stain-resistant. But some chemicals can stain or discolour your surface, so it s wise to wipe up any spills as soon as you can. Protect from very hot pans using a pot stand. Pietra is more heat-resistant than most surface materials, so splashes won t harm, but don t put hot trays or pans down on it. Cutting is no problem either. If you need to cut new joints on site, your Pietra surface can be neatly sliced using regular woodwork tools.
