STEP 1: Create a folder for the original RAW images and one for converted JPEG images In preparation for a Batch Process, first create a folder to store the original RAW images and a second for the converted JPEG images. Here we have created folders named RAW and JPEG. Create a folder for RAW images and one for JPEG images. Name the folders appropriately. The new folders will be displayed in the Capture NX File Directory as shown here.
STEP 2: Confirm that the RAW image folder contains the RAW images to be converted Move or copy the RAW images to be converted to JPEG format to the RAW image folder created in STEP 1. To ensure that original images are not accidentally deleted or lost, it is recommended that the images be copied rather than moved. The RAW image folder (RAW) contains the images to be converted. Start Capture NX, open the RAW image folder (RAW), and be sure that the RAW images to be converted to JPEG are in the folder. Copy or move the RAW images to be converted to JPEG to the RAW image folder created in STEP 1. To copy images, select the images to be copied, use the right mouse button to drag the images to the RAW image folder, and select Copy Here from the menu displayed when the mouse button is released. Here we have selected 9 RAW images for JPEG conversion.
Confirm that the RAW images to be converted to JPEG have been copied to the RAW image folder (RAW).
STEP 3: Apply the appropriate settings in the Batch Process panel and start the Batch Process Select Run Batch Process from the Batch menu. The Batch Process panel in the Settings Options dialog will be displayed. Click Browse in the Source area, navigate to the RAW image folder (RAW), and click OK. Be sure that the Apply settings option is not enabled (not checked). Select JPG from the Select File format pulldown menu. Choose Select folder in the Destination area. With the Select folder radio button in the Destination area enabled, click Browse... and navigate to the folder created for converted JPEG images (JPEG). Click Start to initiate JPEG conversion.
Choose the folder containing the RAW images. Choose JPG. Select the destination folder for the converted JPEG images.
The Apply settings option If the Apply settings option is enabled (checked), a settings file previously saved using the Save Settings option in the Batch menu can be applied, or settings already applied to the RAW images can be disabled so that the RAW images are reverted to their original form before conversion to JPEG format. Two Batch Process modes There are two Batch Process modes available when the Apply settings option is enabled: Use Settings File and Use Original Settings. The two modes operate as follows. Use Settings File When this option is selected, click Browse to choose the settings file to be applied with JPEG conversion. Use Original Settings When this option is selected, enhancements applied to the RAW images with Capture NX are disabled and the images are reverted to their original state.
STEP 4: Start the Batch Process The Processing Queue - Process Running dialog, shown below, is displayed while images are converted. The first screenshot shows the Processing Queue - Process Running dialog in its minimized form, while the second shows the same dialog when details are displayed by clicking the Details show/hide triangle. Click the Details show/hide triangle to display detailed progress information.
STEP 5: When the Batch Process is complete close the Processing Queue - Process Running dialog When the Batch Process is complete, Done is displayed for Current task. Click the close button to close the Processing Queue - Process Running dialog.
STEP 6: Check the images converted to JPEG format Select the folder created for images converted to JPEG (JPEG). Verify that the images displayed in the Browser are those originally selected for conversion to JPEG format. Select the folder for converted JPEG images (JPEG) and verify the images it contains. Images converted to JPEG format will be displayed.
