BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH Mary A. Jackson Moore (1876 1956) was the youngest daughter of Wilson Thompson Jackson (1844 1926) and Dorothy Martin Jackson (1846 1931). Wilson and Dorothy were married 6 September 1866. Mary and her sister, Lula Jackson Weeks Reed (1871 1968), were born in Raleigh, Rush County, Indiana. Wilson held many positions as a resident of Rush County, including Justice of the Peace, Deputy Sheriff, and manager at a telephone company. Mary worked in millineries, later owning and operating her own hat shop in Rushville, Indiana. She married John S. Moore on 13 August 1917 in Lebanon, Kentucky. Her sister, Lula, married George Weeks in 1892. She also worked with Mary in the hat shop. She photographed friends at her Rushville hat store, members of the Modern Art Club, and Rushville neighborhood scenes. Friends and family in rural Indiana communities in Union County and Henry County are also represented. The aftermath of the effect of the 1913 flood on downtown Rushville is also documented.
