Carvalho Marist College 845.575.5050 This WNBC/Marist Poll of New York State reports: New York State s voters divide over whether or not they want to run for president in 2008: When asked about Senator Clinton s potential presidential candidacy in 2008, 49% of registered voters would like to see her run. 44% do not want her to enter the presidential sweepstakes, and 7% are unsure. In January, 41% of New Yorkers wanted her to run for president in 2008. Question Wording: Do you want to run for president in 2008 or not? Registered voters were interviewed by telephone in proportion to the voter registration in each county in New York State and adjusted for turnout in statewide elections. Results are statistically significant at ±4%. There are 315 registered Democrats and 222 registered s. Results for these sub-samples are statistically significant at ±5.5% and ±6.6%, respectively. The error margin increases for crosstabulations. Interviews were conducted in either English or Spanish. Page 5 of 5
