I'm sure you've already heard of dozens of testimonials from all over the internet claiming that Viral Marketing is the best thing since sliced bread. I am also sure that some of you are asking: What the heck is this Viral Marketing thing and how does Viral Marketing actually work? One way to answer those questions is to take a look at an example by using a fictitious character named Sam. Suppose this fellow Sam, a very clever e-marketer, decides to create an ebook titled TRAFFIC SECRETS: Unusual Techniques of Driving Tons of Targeted Traffic to your Website. Viral marketing is a marketing process that motivates people to pass along your marketing message to as many other people as possible. And the biggest motivator to promote your product is to offer a healthy commission to people who send paying customers to your website. Sam knows there is a hungry market out there for this kind of information and one of the most effective ways of spreading word about his revolutionary ebook is to make it Viral! With that fact in mind, Sam decides to add a promotional version of his ebook that can be rebranded with the promoter s affiliate code, offers a 50% commission and then makes a compelling sales page. 4 http://www.viralpdf.com/

Sam also decides to offer the rebranding rights free of charge. A typical scenario could go something like this: Let s imagine that a bloke named Jack (Fig 2) happens to find Sam's promotional free ebook (Fig 1) by using a search engine. He likes Sam s ebook and decides to download it, rebrands it with his affiliate details and promotes it to his list of 100 people. (Fig 3) One of the 100 people on Jack's list let s call her Suzan (Fig 4) - reads the rebranded ebook and decides that the product is just right for her. She clicks on Jack s rebranded link, lands on Sam s sales page and buys the product. (Fig 5) The overall effect at this stage is: Suzan has the product (Fig 7)... Sam has made a sale (Fig 6) and Jack receives a commission for the sale. (Fig 8) Everyone s a winner! One other person on Jack s list is a skilled marketer named Debbie (Fig 9) However, when she reads Jack s promotional message, she decides that it is something her own list of 300 readers may find useful. 5 http://www.viralpdf.com/

She visits Sam's website, downloads the free rebrandable ebook, (Fig 1) rebrands it with her own affiliate details (Fig 2) and promotes it to her list of 300 people. (Fig 3) Suppose three of the 300 people on Debbie's list read the rebranded ebook and decide that the product is just right for them. (Fig 4) They click on Debbie s rebranded link, land on Sam s sales page and purchase the product. (Fig 5) The overall effect at this stage is: 3 new readers have the product (Fig 7) Sam has made 3 sales (Fig 6)... and Debbie receives a big commission for bringing in three sales. (Fig 8) One other person on Debbie's list of 300 readers is an eminent marketer named Fred. (Fig 9) However, when he reads Debbie s promotional message, he decides that it is something his own list of 500 readers will probably want as well. 6 http://www.viralpdf.com/

He visits Sam's website, downloads the free rebrandable ebook, (Fig 1) rebrands it with his own affiliate details (Fig 2) and promotes it to his list of 500 people. (Fig 3) 21 of the 500 people on Fred's list read the rebranded ebook and decide that the product is just right for them. (Fig 4) They click on Fred's rebranded link, land on Sam s sales page and purchase the product. (Fig 5) The overall effect at this stage is: 21 new readers have the product (Fig 7)... Sam has made 21 sales (Fig 6)... and Fred receives a huge commission for bringing in 21 sales (Fig 8). All are winners and feel very happy indeed. 7 http://www.viralpdf.com/

But the happiest of all is Sam. (Fig 5) Only three downloads of his FREE promotional ebook generated 25 new sales. (Fig 4) Sales to people who did not know Sam s ebook even existed before this day! How s that for viral marketing! Now what do you suppose would happen to his profits if there were not just three but dozens of downloads each and every day? I think I'll leave that up to your own imagination! Although this is a made up example, the fact remains that there are hundreds of successful e- marketers who are promoting their product in exactly the same way as we ve seen Sam do. 8 http://www.viralpdf.com/

Creating the Master Document (Product Owner) Sam's secret to reach vast numbers of potential buyers is his decision to create a rebrandable promotional ebook designed to explain, tease and creatively encourage readers to buy his main product. Although there are a number of other PDF rebranders available to choose from, the new version of Sean Kelly s ViralPDF Rebrander (Classic Edition) is by far one of the best on the market. It is exceedingly versatile, easy to use and extremely powerful. In order to demonstrate the power of Sean Kelly s ViralPDF Classic Edition PDF Rebrander, let s start by making a Rebrandable title page for our fictitious Sam s Traffic Secrets ebook. Let s open Notepad and begin by creating:» the title» a subtitle with the author's name...» a credit line for the affiliate» a link to their website and» an affiliate link to Sam s Traffic Secrets ebook. First... let s copy the raw text from the Notepad - (Select all text and choose Edit -> Copy) Why use Notepad instead of Word? Of course you could use Word instead of Notepad to do your project in. But I find it much easier to focus on the content using a plain text editor with no distracting text formatting tools to play with. then paste it into Microsoft Word (Choose Edit -> Paste) and finally format the text to look its best. Now we'll embed some links into this document. It could be a good idea to have a link pointing to a page about the Author and his qualifications. Select the words SAM SMITH (Fig 1)... click on the Insert Hyperlink button (Fig 2) 10 http://www.viralpdf.com/

and enter their URL. Click OK. The next stage is to tackle the affiliate s name. Since we know nothing about the affiliate or what name they will be using, we must represent this essential but unknown information with a placeholder... a variable. What might be a good variable label for an affiliate s name? How about your.name? Sounds good to me - let s use it. ViralPDF Signer can understand variable labels only if they are surrounded by special tags... which are: Please note: The tag set has been replaced by tag set because the former tag set did not always work as intended in some versions of Microsoft Word. Since the new ViralPDF Signer does recognize both tag sets, it is entirely up to you what set you d prefer to use in your own projects. 11 http://www.viralpdf.com/

But I digress! You only need to remember one thing... to make our viral ebook display anyone s name, we must replace The Affiliate phrase with this variable: Representing the name of an affiliate's website URL is a little different. First... let's decide on a good variable label for an affiliate's website URL. How about "your.web.site.url"? 12 http://www.viralpdf.com/

Since this entire line: Click here to visit our website is going to be a link to the affiliate's website... highlight the entire text (Fig 1) and click the Insert Hyperlink (Fig 2) button. There is nothing wrong with that but suppose we wanted to display the actual affiliate s URL instead? That s a little trickier to manage. Select and copy (Control+C) the text we just typed in the Address box. (Fig 1) Select the existing text in Text to display box (Fig 2) and replace it by pressing (Control+V). Click OK. Before we tackle the final part how to create an affiliate link - let's take a closer look at the unique structure of a typical ClickBank affiliate link. 14 http://www.viralpdf.com/

It is made up of 3 essential parts A: Affiliate's ClickBank Nickname, B: Vendor's ClickBank Nickname and C: the link to ClickBank s Website. Sam is the Vendor and his choice of Vendor's Clickbank Nickname is MVGuide. So far - so good. The only part missing is the Affiliate's Nickname... but Sam does not know who will be redistributing his viral ebook or their ClickBank nickname - the only thing Sam knows for sure is that a valid ClickBank affiliate link MUST include all 3 parts - therefore he has no choice other than to express the unknown information as a placeholder. What might be a good variable for an affiliate s ClickBank Nickname? How about CBNickName? Seems reasonable - let s settle on that. Surround the variable with the special tags and the final generic ClickBank affiliate link should look like this... 15 http://www.viralpdf.com/

Select the text you want to embed the Rebrandable ClickBank Affiliate Link into and click the Insert Hyperlink button. Type into the Address box the generic Click- Bank affiliate link - click OK and we are done! Save your work as Master.doc and take a well deserved break because the hard work is behind us this is where the fun starts! 16 http://www.viralpdf.com/

Converting a Master Document into PDF (Product Owner) It is time to convert the Master Word Document into a Master PDF File. But before I show how easy this step is, I must make one important point extremely clear CONVERTING a Word Document into a PDF File is NOT THE SAME as PRINTING it to a PDF printer engine! 17 http://www.viralpdf.com/

The difference is: a true Microsoft Word-to-PDF converter is a custom macro that detects both the visible links (Fig 1) as well as the embedded ones. (Fig 2 & 3) A standard PDF printer engine is not a macro and is not designed to detect any links within a document at all. (Fig 4) Their job is to convert what they can see into a PDF format and not much else. However, some of the better PDF printing engines do render links but only ones that happen to be visible. (Fig 5) The vast majority of PDF printer engines are not designed to recognize embedded links and therefore ignore them. (Fig 6 & 7) 18 http://www.viralpdf.com/

There are a number of Word-To-PDF converters available on the market. However... not all detect embedded links within a document and some that can won t work with ViralPDF Personal Edition Rebrander - for one reason or another. The only Word-To-PDF converter I know of that is a true macro as well as being able to recognize embedded links in print out mode is Sean Kelly's PDFPrinter. I do suggest you take a serious look at his converter: www.pdfprinter.com It certainly has more built-in features than most other affordable PDF converters I ve seen so far. 19 http://www.viralpdf.com/

The process of converting your Master Word Document into a PDF File is straight forward. We'll use Sean Kelly's PDFPrinter for this example. Click the PDF Printer macro button (Fig 1) and wait a bit for the options box to pop up. Enter the title for this Manual - Traffic Secrets (Fig 2) Modify the Author details - Sam Smith (Fig 3) Type in the subject this manual is about - Website Traffic. (Fig 4) And finally let's add some keywords - Targeted Traffic Techniques (Fig 5) The rest of the options we can leave as they are. Click OK. 20 http://www.viralpdf.com/

Choose a suitable location then save the file as Manual-Converted.pdf How to use ViralPDF Now let's open Manual-Converted.pdf and check to see that all is well The Author's URL is correctly embedded in his name. The variable your.name looks fine. 21 http://www.viralpdf.com/

The variable your.web.site.url is embedded correctly and The Clickbank variable appears to be OK as well. So far, everything looks good. The next step is to prepare this new PDF file for rebranding by using the ViralPDF Signer module. 22 http://www.viralpdf.com/

Signing The Master Document (Product Owner) Part of the ViralPDF package includes a file called PDFSigner.exe. (Fig 1) This is the essential file that prepares an ebook to become viral. The ViralPDF Rebrander (Fig 2) won't do its intended job until the ebook is signed by PDFSigner. Open PDFSigner by double clicking on the icon (Fig 1) then click the Open Button (Fig 3) and navigate to where the Manual-Converted.pdf is stored. Open it.. 23 http://www.viralpdf.com/

You should see confirmation that the Manual-Converted.pdf file is ready for signing. (Fig 1) Click the Sign button (Fig 2) then click OK... You're done! Save this file as Manual-Signed.pdf - to distinguish it from the unsigned version. Close the program and... The Rebrandable Traffic Secrets Manual is now ready and set to become truly viral! 24 http://www.viralpdf.com/

The job now is to create a webpage about the Traffic Secrets Manual. It should highlight compelling reasons why people should read it and have a link to 2 files - the Promotional Signed ebook (Fig 2) and the ViralPDF Rebrander. (Fig 1) Also, it is a good idea to include a third file... a mini user manual (Fig 3) explaining to the affiliate/promoter how to use the ViralPDF Rebrander. \ Please Note: It is very important to remember that the PDFsigner program itself must never be given away. The strategy is to get as many readers as possible to download the promotional version of the Traffic Secrets Manual. The more people download it, the quicker the word will spread about your main product. Your part as the product owner is finished. Branding The Signed Document (Affiliate / Promoter) The promoter... if convinced that your promotional ebook had valuable information... would download the three files to their hard drive. The first thing they would do is to open the PDFbrand.exe Rebrander by double clicking on the icon (Fig 1) then drag n drop the accompanying signed promotional PDF manual (Fig 2) into the opened window. (Fig 3) Instantly all the variables present within the signed PDF ebook would become visible and waiting for the promoter's input. The promoter would then fill in their own details into the 3 dialog boxes (Fig 4) and when finished, they would embed those details into the ebook by clicking the big Brand button. They d click the Save button (Fig 1) and save the rebranded ebook as Manual-Rebranded.pdf (Fig 2) The promoter would then open the rebranded ebook and test the links before any promotional effort was started. They d test Sam s link Check the spelling of their name 28 http://www.viralpdf.com/

They d make sure the link to their website was working OK and most importantly - they d check if their affiliate link to Sam s Traffic Secrets ebook was landing on the right sales page. After passing these tests satisfactorily, the promoter would then have the green light to upload Sam s rebranded promotional Traffic Secrets ebook to their own website and begin promoting it in any way they wished. Intrigued, you click on the link and land on his promotional page read a bit more about the promotional free ebook then decide to download it. You read more supporting copy about Sam s ebook and now you are really convinced you must have it so you scroll down to the bottom of the page and eagerly click the Buy now button.
